Don't make it tricky for them maxus

That scenario doesn't sound ideal for inspiring confidence in the staff that theres a low risk in it for them.

My lines are based on doing an electronics project and that I'm collecting used flash cameras for it....

Sounds plausible, collecting gives the impression that I've already obtained some so it's not such a big thing and it doesn't take long to say = easily understood & less time for them to consider fob-offs like health risks.

Maybe I overdo it but hey, I've got hundreds of broken down cameras that say it works.

I'm curious, how would you make a powerful enough coil gun from disposable cameras bigbob12345? got a link to a site?

You know it's probably 330v but you can't tell for sure its capacitance.
Actually, if you charge a capacitor of known value to a known voltage, then connect it to the unknown one, then measure the voltage across them after that, you can calculate the value of the unknown capacitor very easily with simple maths.

Those are cool pics.

Somewhere on the web is a little BB firing coil gun built into one of these disposable cameras. The performance sucks but it is pretty cool, the barrel 's muzzle is where the camera's lens was.

My coil gun uses one of the Kodak circuit boards, never did wind a decent launch coil though so the performance sucks. But it does work better than the one I built using nothing but the parts of a toaster.

@scottcrete: I've just had an idea.

I may now be too old to pull the "school project" trick, but I might be able to use "I'm back from my engineering course and my younger brother has a project he needs help with" instead... might even work better.

That would certainly give the impression I knew exactly what I was on about.

thats what i would do.. im saying do what ever it takes... hell .. over to buy them at a discount price.. i talked to a guy at ritz camera that owned the store.. he told me he sells his 500 in a box for 45.00 to some compnay that re issues them to each of their respectful companys.

he siad he didnt mind giveing me some.. but thats what he does with them.. offer this if your turned down.. saying i will give you a dollar ech for them if all fails.. thats more than they are gonna get for them at 500 for 45.00 .. that equals out to what.. say 11 cents a piece they are getting for them?

just knowledge to equipe yourself with.

I'm older than you and electronics project still flies without question :P

I don't say anything about it being for an educational purpose, if they assume so, thats for their mind to fill in
