i am just using a bunch of pvc pipe and some screw on caps. i have been using pvc glue to glue everything together. im using hairspray as fuel. coleman lantern ignitor as the spark. they have been decent for shooting range. like 50-75 yards.

two new spud guns
Lots of DWV there. Check around the site...you'll find this stuff is frowned upon. These basic combustions should be ok but you should retire them soon and move on to a more standard configuration. Also try to do a neater job with your primer.

ya i know that these guns are pretty bad, they are just prototypes. i am working more and more and doing some more research to build a bigger and better gun. and ya, the primer runs every where
Just take your time and take in some more info around the site here. You'll learn a lot and you'll be more confident on your next project.

When did DWV for basic combustions start becoming frowned upon?
Anybody who has used a cleanout cap has used DWV, so I don't see the validity of that argument.

Like, forever....? It's tolerated for new spudders as at least not being a time bomb but also typically suggested they move on and beyond in their next build.markfh11q wrote:When did DWV for basic combustions start becoming frowned upon?

Yes of course cleanout caps are used commonly...and they also get blown out commonly.
I used DWV on a propane combustion and it never gave me problems, (the DWV).
But it goes along with how you feel with it. You also see others making propane combustions with ABS, and it works fine for them as far as i know.
If you look in the showcase, there are a couple of ABS combustions. Take this one for example. Its also mapp gas and he uses its built with DWV and ABS.
