Flour would work. And when doing combustion it may give an awesome muzzle flash instead.
Sure worth trying if you ask me.
Or gasoline which may be easier to feed.
Quite an awesome thing, a powder silencer. Didnt know such things existed.
@john
That's the recipe of a generic smoke mixture, which would be useless as we cant use it in combination with a gun.
It would be unpractical to set off a smoke mixture the same time a cannon fires.
EDIT:
Why not just throw a small handful of dust (ignitable or not) down the barrel?
That would work and be easy to try.

Hell yeah, Dutch talk
Yeah I guess I could try this whole muzzle flash thing tomorrow (outside). Might be exiting.
Well the thing with this suppressor is that you don't have to manually load some dust/powder in the barrel each time you want to fire it.psycix wrote:Why not just throw a small handful of dust (ignitable or not) down the barrel?
And about the vapour plume:
I got a LITTLE bit of vapor from a soda bottle at 3 bar (maybe less) with a 3/8" ball valve. But that was without barrel.
Also, the vapour plume you got on your HEAL is darn awesome, Ragnarok!

Nog op vanwege school? Vet dat spudfiles een deel van jouw school is.
Throwing it in can be done without having to build the suppressor.
A hard thing to do would be to control the amount of dust that is released every shot.
Even while one reload of the silencer can give of multiple shots: Loading the dust in the simple way is done in a second, while reloading the silencer could take 10 seconds.
Have you got any idea yet of how to build the thing?

Yep. But there are some downsides compared to simply throwing it in.Well the thing with this suppressor is that you don't have to manually load some dust/powder in the barrel each time you want to fire it.

I'm not going to try and answer any of that in Dutch, because it's so long since I last practised that I will sound like an idiot... Reading it though is JUST about within my limits.
One question that I'm going to ask, because I'm tired... it's cool, but why is it needed? I'm not entirely sure quite whether I'd be going to these lengths for a purely aesthetic effect you'll probably tire of maintaining.
Or again, in the case of a pneumatic, you get this completely automatically, just as a consequence of how it works... and it looks a darn sight cooler I'd say, just because it's prolonged, and you get the wafty vapour.psycix wrote:Even while one reload of the silencer can give of multiple shots: Loading the dust in the simple way is done in a second, while reloading the silencer could take 10 seconds.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

What about putting my smoke mx into te combustion chamber? it would provide a little "extra lift" and then you would get a load of smoke coming out, requirerments would be a metal chamber

...We can not discuss solid propellants here on spudfiles.
On top of that, it would not work very well.
The mix burns too slow to have any effect on the performance.
Also, I am not sure whether the mix can be ignited with the short flash of temperature in the chamber.
