this is my first big potato cannon i built. I call it BIG DADDY.
the chamber is 4" PVC that i cut to a 2' length. the barrel is a 4' long piece of 2" PVC screw on adapter (added after pics where taken) so i can remove from the chamber for cleaning and storage.

had to be Rammstein
I like how you turned it into a community event one little thing though, don't want to sound like a health and safety nazi but there's a bit around 2:20 where you swing the muzzle almost across the face of the cameraman (though granted it was pointed slightly upwards) that could have been dangerous in the case of accidental discharge. Muzzle awareness is as important for spudguns as it is for any other projectile launching device.

Thanks for the tip on the muzzle. i dont think i realized i had the muzzle that low when i moved and i dont think the camera man was payin attention either. I'll definitely make sure i watch how i handle that issue from here on out.

At this juncture it's worth posting Jeff Cooper's 4 simple rules:
1. All guns are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
... and of course, mentioning the spudfiles legend of frog boy

I read the article about frog boy. The only thing i would love to know is why the hell was he trying to shoot a frog in the first place and why did he look down the barrel after he prepped the gun to shoot. I know i made the mistake when i turned with my gun, the evidence is there in plain sight...lol. But even i know not to look into a loaded barrel for one and two you can clearly see my hand is nowhere near the trigger until im in the fire position. All else aside i greatly appreciate you taken the time to help me realize what i did wrong and help me with your advice. That's why i joined this site. i love the friendly helpful attitude
i hate that article they make it seem like spud guns and spud files are these evil weapon of mass destruction, just cause some guy shot his eye out doesn't mean there not safe or the people operating them aren't.cbsnews wrote:On the Internet, they're a phenomenon, with nearly 9,000 spud gun hits. Web sites show people how to build or buy them cheap.

I can agree there. The first thing i thought of when i read it was the old movie a christmas story,,, ( You'll shoot your eye out !!! ). The only reason they try to give us the bad press about spud guns in my opinion is because they dont know how to make one themselves or they are afraid of haveing fun for once in there pathetic lives. Is it wrong of me to laugh when i read the part about him being shot with a FROG? Dont get me wrong im not in anyway amused at the fact he got hurt but come on A F**king FROG
