I understand very well what you mean ... I am a modeler and we have had problems with gun shots to our models. It is preferable not to "awaken the unscrupulous."Futterama wrote:We don't want to fuel the fire against drones (RC planes are considered drones) so we need to behavehectmarr wrote:What I do not understand is how he does not feel like ejecting any projectile of any kind.

That is a fair point and an admirable one, but it's a shame because something like this is fuçking awesome!Futterama wrote:We don't want to fuel the fire against drones (RC planes are considered drones) so we need to behave

Is he using an AEG system to reduce weight or does he have CO2 cartridges?
This weapon serves to silence the noisy speakers of the stupid of the other street! (joke) -Hectmarr

From what I can tell it's an electro-pneumatic system that uses a solenoid to reciprocate the barrel, this simultaneously feeds a BB and opens a valve:

It looks very good this machine gun and not dangerous, I like it. The only thing that is missing is that it sounds louder because it is difficult to hear with the model aircraft a little away from the public, and even more so if it is a model aircraft with a turbojet engine. Maybe yna soundboard ?.
The weather has been cold but calm and dry the latest few days so I finished up some work on my test plane to get it in the air again.
I mounted the propane canister and my controller board so I could go test shooting the sound cannon.
I could get the sound cannon to shoot when on the ground with engine off (no blowing of air into the air intake) but it wouldn't shoot on the one test flight I got with it.
My home made exhaust rattled loose so I did not get to test more than 1 flight today.
Good news is I did not crash, the frozen ground did undo all my foam tires from the wheel hubs, but no damage to the plane.
Oh yeah, no radio glitches from firing the cannon, that isolated spark plug must have done the trick because I forgot all about the HV resistor!
Now the question is, do I get too much air into the air intake or not enough? The easiest to do would be to restrict the air flow and start there, see if less air will make a difference. If not, I will have to make a bigger air intake or start fiddling with forced air from a blower but I hope the natural air intake will do.
More flight updates when weather is better, until then, I will have to test with the plane on the ground and engine off or on at different throttle settings, maybe I can learn something from that.
