alright im gna be making a kind of mini combustion out of 2" pipe. i was just wondering if its alright to use dwv because i have all the parts for it already. it will be about 30cm long(the chamber) and 2" wide.

probably not a high pressure so i would assume its okay.

what do you guys think?

yes dwv is fine for combustion ive made propane guns that are made of dwv.
i even made a pneumatic marble gun from dwv and ran it at over 100 psi never once failed me. also made a really shitty hybrid from dwv. just make sure you sure you use (green) glue.

it looks pretty.
for a small combustion you're ok with dwv. just dont plug up the barrel too tight, cause then you have a pipe bomb.

No such thing will happen. At most, propane will generate around 100psi at combustion. I would assume that this cannon is not going to be using propane, so the combustion pressure will be even smaller. A small DWV cannon will definitely handle this. If the ammo is too tight to be propelled at combustion, the gases will usually leak out of fittings and around the ammo.

nope. sticking expansive things like over stuffed duct tape cylinders and jamming them down with a steel pole is what would be meant by plug up.

Well, it is a potato gun, so potato slugs would be good ammo. As far as ice slugs, that would be cool, too, as ice is heavier, would be more uniform, and would cause more destruction.

Taped up objects work well too, if they are not too tight. I just built a small combustion and it has a 1" barrel. Its primary ammo is 16 penny nails wrapped in duct tape and glow sticks (for night firing) wrapped in duct tape.

As far as tape goes, I've had better experience with duct tape, as electrical tape tends to slide.

well in that case i guess i was wrong and you're good to go, yes potatoes would make great ammo, ice too, but i find that potatoes shot from small diameter barrels often dont go very far, they loose speed quickly due to more surface area compared to weight. and they are light so they dont do much dammage and usually just splat on impact. ice is a whole different story, one of my favorites. what size barrel(s) are you going to use?

and f.c. why on earth would you make a hybrid with dwv?
