hiya all i was thinking the other day and decided to build a fully auto cannon with 5 barrels that rotate, most of it i have worked out but i still have a few bugs, i am drawing up full build plans soon and ill take build pictures too, i was just wondering what kind of response i would get from this build ?
and any sugestions are welcome
by the way im only interested in combustion, i dont know why i just love them

If you are able to get it to work, you will get a positive response. However, it is going to be very difficult to get it to work.

Good Luck

making a 5 barrel cannon that has a chamber for each barrel and only shoots once wouldn't be *that* difficult a task to accomplish.

i have an idea
for ur ignition have a stun gun and have metal plates or screws on the outside of the combustion that moves past the terminals of the stun gun
hence ignition when it moves past

just an idea

The Revolver X is a rotating combustion cannon. I don't see why it can't be modified to suit your needs. If you run into any problems, you may can check the site for suggestions.

yes it roughly what i am going for but having each barrel fire more than once, so i'll have to auto reload, i am usein a stun gun idea to,

but having each barrel fire more than once
this means you're going to have to find a way to reload the projectile and refuel the chamber after venting it - as pointed out in the other thread - this is a very advanced project which only an experienced builder with access to the right tools and materials can hope to succeed in, I suggest you limit yourself to something simpler.

Yeah, building a revolver is not hard. Building a combution revolver with a single ingnition source is not hard.

Building a cannon with any kind of auto loading system is difficult to say the least. Doing it with combustion would require some specialized fabrication skills, not to mention a chamber (or five) that can be fired, vented, filled, mixed, and fired again in rapid time, while the barrel (or five) are being autoloaded.

You might be biting off more than anyone wants to chew. If you are bound and determined to try an auto system start with a vortex. They will provide some challenge to your building skills but are still easily within grasp of completion.

I think that it would be rather simple if you know how to use complicated electronics.. It would have a low ROF but you could use one barrel and chamber having electric valves and such to let propane and air in. A large electric ball valve, fan, and stungun are a must of course. It could run itself, if programmed properly (in fact, digital logic and timing circuits would do it).

Now picture the above, and assume it takes 10 seconds between shots. Therefore, if you have 5 barrels all started consecutively 2 seconds after each other, you would have a full auto combustion with a shot every 2 seconds.

You could even have it spin and have each of the five barrel/chamber positions be a different step:
1. Open ball valve and turn on fan.
2. Close ball valve.
3. Open propane valve for X seconds.
4. Turn on fan.
5. Turn on stun-gun.
Each chamber would be equiped with each part and would engage as a mechanical connection is made while the barrels rotate.

If you had five chambers, while one fires, another one needs to be filled with air, then the air needs to be released, which should vent it for a new shot, but it would have to happen super quick.

Well, I would say goose is onto something. The timing circuits would make it much more possible but nowhere near fast. Not to mention the cost of the circuits and fans and whatnot, at least you could get by with a single stungun ignition. But his idea only helps the fueling side of the gun

My issue is still with the reloading aspect for a combustion. You could use some sort of breech loading system, but you need an easily loaded uniform projectile like a golfball or marble, etc. and the trouble is getting one round into the barrel and keeping it there. A normal gravity feed would either try to load too many or not load (or keep it loaded). A hopper is out of the question without major mods to the gunIf you try to add sliding bolt design you run into the trouble of a sliding bolt in a combustion with all the other dodads.

@ robbo@robbo. I think if you were successful with this venture you will have one of the craziest guns anyone have even heard of. I too think goose man has the right idea but the electronics that are going to be needed run this thing are going to be pretty complicated. Getting everything to work at the right time, in the right order again and again automatically is going to be more than difficult. Unless the electronics and programming come easy to you. Good luck to you dude, I'm looking forward to seeing someone pull this off.

well so far I have had the idea of the stun igntion with steel plates on the outer shell, i got that idea before it was posted, and the 5 rotating barrels. Very simple I could do it, If i wanted to.
