a buddy of mine's daughter just got married.
This is not a How-To, this is merely what I did in my spare time yesterday.

What a great find! Aren't those disposable flash boards amazing little devices.
Nice writeup to, would make a good addition to the SpudWiki.
I've fiddled with a similar setup, though never installed it in a gun. The spark makes an amazingly loud bang when it works correctly.
I wonder, with all those photoflashes...
Line up several near the muzzle of a spudgun, tripod mount a camera with a "bulb" shutter setting (the shutter stays open as long as the button is pushed), trigger the flashes on the sound of the gun firing, figure out a way to sequentially fire the strobes (tricky but not impossible), set everything up outside on a moonless night, fire the gun and try to get several images in the picture of the spud leaving the barrel.

Thanks Silverdooty, i always wondered how to make one of those, and i'm not the best with electronic schematics- your pics make it a whole lot easier to understand

Nice writeup. There are still people who don't know how to use a flash circuit in this manner.
I WOULD at least get a project box or similar enclosure to put your circuit inside of, though. One bare appendage across those capacitor terminals and you are in for a world of pain.

many people get scared when it comes to electronics. they see the circuit board, the switches and the wires and figure it is too hard or tedious. also, a lot of the kids here want their launchers to done quick so BBQ sparkers are predominant.
BTW:it is in a project box. and
After everything was assembled and test fired the board got a couple of coats of liquid tape to prevent accidental arcing.

Ah, I see. That part was sort of stuck between the picture and your conclusion. Didn't see it there.

I just go to Target and they give me them for free!
I have a box of about 30 of them.

Wow, my dad got about ten for me when he went to get pictures developed. Places like CVS practically give them away(they actually do give them away free, but you have to ask).

I'm not seeing any media that shows what you did with your loot! Did you edit it out?
