i was reading on how to make a transformer. could this be used for ignition?

You can use an transformer to get an avaragely high voltage pulse become a very high voltage pulse, allowing greater spark distances.
Like a 300V capacitor unloading trough the transformer to yield 30000V.

Practical answer: Don't make one. Buy one. You'll thank yourself later.

An ignition coil is just a transformer.

Making a transformer by yourself is a real pain in the ### espacialy high voltage ones. I think you could better buy one
.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Stun guns don't lend themselves to every situation.
