Hey all, I'm considering another cannon, a monster as is my specialty. I'm looking for PVC for my combustion chamber. I don't need 10ft of it and I also need it as cheap as I can find it. I'm looking for a 10in pipe at least 4 ft long at sch 80, I also need fittings. I have a rough sketch to show what I'm trying to build. I'll give details as asked.

The only pipe I've seen that would be reasonably available and cheap would be c900 drain pipe. It's what DR used for his basketball cannon.

c900 is a sdr pressure pipe ,gasketed fittings.
steel pipe w/weld fittings tons easer.

Well really what I need is to cut down on price, I'd really like to make spudfiles largest advanced combustion. You think steel would be the better way to go?

While it's not an advanced, have you seen the basketball cannon? You'll have to build a real giant to get the largest combustion. However, you should be able to use similar materials. Again you insist on cheap.... If you can find it cheap, great....you will however probably only find it at typical market prices.

With steel you'll probably need to do some cutting and welding. You might try using something like an air compressor tank for a chamber....possibly something like this...

Well I'm not certified in such fabrication as of yet. That's why I stay away from metal. And yes I have seen the basketball cannon. As far as cheap goes, you know me, always squeezing pennies. So if everyone is ok with the structural integrity of sch 80 10in, I think I'll be going with that. Does anyone know of pressure ratings for such sizes? I'm hoping it's around 120 PSI. Don't wan't the thing exploding at that size.

how about a 44 gallon drum and bolt on your barrel using a pvc flange

10 inch is WAY overkill for a 3 inch barrel, dont you think?

A 44 gallon drum is huge, its, well, 44 gallons . But yes it could work. But I'm actually trying to make this a carry under over. Something similar to the drawing. I want to bring it to a gun range and scare the crap out of people who use over rated gunpowder

Eh maybe, but I want the biggest thing for a 3 in bore as possible. I don't know of any bore sizes larger than 3 that have commonly found ammo

Sched 80 10" will be fine for a 1x combustion, but it won't be cheap. Load up HGDT if you haven't already and model it out.

I would, but as mentioned before, 10in maybe too much, what is the diameter of a 44 gallon drum? 20in?

Mother of God! I just put the cannon into HGDT. If the barrel is at the right length (20ft ) a 20oz beverage container will have a muzzle velocity of 600ft/s! With the barrel length I can ideally add (5ft) it'll reach 300ft/s. I'll load the data in a sec.

I know this is a triple post at this point, and I know it's a no no. But I still haven't found a site that has large PVC at a consumer quantity. A little help please?
