MOAR PENGUNS!?
This is just a little combustion pengun i built. its not perfect, but its a fun little plinker to play with. it fires little beads, or graphite. it is powered by swimers ear drops (95% alcohol)
The whole gun
Ignitor exposed
Propellant
Ammo
Size comparison
P.S. I didn't use any DWV haha
A different kind of pengun
Sweet! I like the idea of a combustible pengun

can it write?
be careful with it a kid at my school got suspended for having one of these. http://www.instructables.com/id/BIC-BB- ... d-Edition/ it was powered by two pen springs and shot a bb across a room with like no real force at all. they called it a concealed weapon and they were kinda right. all i am saying is keep it at home.
very nice though i have always liked the idea of fitting all of the components into something so small as a pen. i tip my hat to you.

You should try to lathe one, make it in school, say its a pen, and install a tiny resevoir and a barrel in it, install these so that the pen shoots back wards. Then put a pen tube in, cut it in half or so to keep it short, so that it doesn't stick out beyond the chamber. Add a threades bit to reload, and if you find a way a piezo(which can otherwise be housed in the front part, next to the pen tube making the pen a little longer). Now find a way to trigger it all( pushing the pen at the tip would be cool). And tada, a very difficult, fidelly school project is complete, and you have something that both shoots and writes, kinda fun...(could be powered of tipex/ whiteout, or for the chicks out there, nail polish remover)

Interesting pengun, since combustions are by definition low pressure and small calibres need high pressure for reasonable power I personally wouldn't go down this route. Any chance of seeing it in action?
@ john
My school is very protective about the powertools in shop, so i doubt i could use the lathe for an unschool related project. and the first version of this was a much bigger pen with alot of the specs you are talking about, but sadly it went BOOOM. I think my fuel is good for the size, but i'll try your alternative fuels, and look for an increase in power.
@JSR
Yea this gun wasn't built to be the most powerful gun... its my weakest build yet. it was just something to fool around with until the PVC cement dried on my bigger projects. And there probably won't be a vid, fueling is very tricky, and my web cam sucks

You evil sod. It's a nightmare getting hold of that kind of lead over here, and you're using it as ammo?mikemurph wrote:Ammo
On a more serious note, you can probably find less costly graphite, but even that is still wasteful in my opinion. The bulk packs of lead I buy are still 7 pence a lead - more per unit than the insane field prices for paintballs around here. Not what I'd call a good price for ammo.
Well, it's not that hard to set most things on fire. Just add oxidiser and lots of heat and any pengun on this site would prove combustible.maverik94 wrote:Sweet! I like the idea of a combustible pengun
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I think:
1: great job on getting a combustion this small working
2: I could beat that thing with a small section of 3/4 tube and a balloon...
In 2 minutes.
Good job on the conceilment of it all...
