breech loading bolt action

this is my first gun, i wanted breech loading and bolt action. i used a car ignition coil for the spark, so i get a really really hot spark from it. i havent yet shot potatoes from it because i finished it fairly late and even when just shooting a wad of fabric it sounded liek a gunshot. i use lighter fluid as the fuel. im hoping to convert to a propane/ propane oxy setup next.

tested it today. and it kicks, works really well with little pre cut potato bullets. theres very little to no leakeage in the bolt action. with some work im hoping to get to 6 rounds a minute. maybe with a clip or something. car ignition coil also is very very good sparks.

Wow this seems impressive as far as it's functionality goes! What did you use for the bolt handle? With enough spoofing up it could look really nice too.

2 reply, one the bolt handle is just that a bolt welded onto the metal barrel.
and 2, oxygen is always the oxidizer in a propane based potato cannon, and since propane needs a pretty specific mixture to be explosive how on earth could it make any difference wether you use bottled oxy or the oxy in the air

concentrated oxygen will significantly boost the power of your gun, but could be dangerous....if you feel like it go for it, but dont blame me if you die

Funny... cars burn oxygen, and it makes a HELL of a lot of a difference if you pump pure oxygen directly into the carb... right?
If you're only introducing atmospheric levels of oxygen into the gun (~20 percent by volume) it should be alright, although the danger associated with metering oxygen is high enough to make it not worth it over just normal venting procedure.

Adding pure oxygen reduces the amount of "buffer" gasses, like Nitrogen that prevent the mixture from detonating. That's why oxygen enriched mixes are dangerous in PVC.

When you use pure propane and oxygen mixture you end up using alot more propane for one shot since there is more oxygen that it can react with since the normal amount in air is 20.9 (I think). So the reaction gets much more powerfull.

well i wasnt going to go for as much oxy and propane as would optimally fill it, just use the ratio and work my way up till im satisfied its working at least as well as hairspray, in my case its not about making the boom bigger so much as reload times smaller cause without a shorter relaod time theres not really much use for a bolt action. also, somewhat off topic, but has anyone else tried a valve off a car engine as ammo, be warned its not safe at all.

Propane is better than hairspray without oxygen.... to think of it... anything is better than hairspray...

Ever seen an oxygen/fuel bomb?Well obviously not they have a hug explosive power and there is no way i would try using an O2 rich mix in large diametre PVC.I have seen it done with small diametre PVC and that stuff is rated up to 400psi and even with that the chamber exploded,i believe the cannon was made by Rambo.
