Mini Butane Powered, Advanced Design Gun Idea.

Hello Its my first post on the forum.
I got a idea to make a aluminium gun powered by butane. The main chambers would be made out of 1 piece of aluminium with copper fittings. The ignition would be a BBQ sparker. My grandfather is a retired machinist, so he could help my with the aluminium body and other stuff. I have a huge piece of aluminium, 4cm thick, 15cm wide and 10cm long. I also have a piece of 5mm thick aluminium witch is 30x30cm big. I have 100$ to spend. I am a hobby woodworker so I could make cool laminated grips for it.
Excuse my bad English, I am from a small country called Estonia.

With those sort of resources, why not make a small high pressure pneumatic? You'll get a *lot* more power than a combustion...
Some (shamelessly self-promoting
) examples:
pengun
pengun v2
0.22 coaxial
pico-ax
marker gun

lol jack was it nessecary to link those?
I agree though, I was going to say the same thing. If you have all that stuff try a pneumatic, you will be much happier.

I do not really like pneumatic guns because they usually need pumps or expensive filling stations. If i found a good idea of a semi-auto hand gun i would make one. My design is portable and looks cool. Could my design work?

if you had a way to vent the chamber after each shot and a metering system them of course it would work

Your going to lose some power by feeding the combustion gasses through a small I.D hose to the barrel. That said I would also advocate for pneumatic approach as power can be lacking in small combustions. You don't need expensive fill stations either you can use a bike pump which most people have or a shock pump which can be had for as little as $10.

Or you can make a hybrid combustion and still have portability and more power than a pneumatic without the need for high pressure pumps or compressors.

If made well, your design should work, but as most people will tell you the power will be very disappointing, probably worse than a cheap airsoft pistol.
As pointed out above, a shock pump is compact, will give you high pressure very quickly for a small chamber and online
a good one is less than $30 posted to Estonia, you can probably find it cheaper locally.
Not trying to say your idea isn't good, but performance will be limited. If you're willing to live with that, go with it

I think i will go pneumatic. I am going to search around the forum for good ideas. Could anyone help me with it.

The examples I posted above should be a good start

There are a couple questions we need to ask you before we give you advice.
1.)Would would you like your ammo to be?
2.)How fast would you like to shoot it?

if i would you and have those abilities to machine pretty much anything, i would machine a small but still high flow pistonvalve and small pump, those are pretty simple things. look for the forum, you will get good advices.

I like Moonoggs idea better, get your shock pump, and mod it to pump mixed butane and air, then fire that.
With all your machining capabilities, you should be able to do a piston hydrid. Im betting that would beat the pants off any airsoft pistol out there.
That would be a cool little gun.
Either way, its a nice design, and Im looking foward to the end product - even if you go the combustion route. Power isnt everything. being able to carry hundred of shots worth of power, and never having to pump can add to your fun levels if all you want is a little plinker.

If this is your first build and you want to keep costs down I would advise not going down the hybrid path. It is almost guaranteed to cost more and small hybrids can be finnicky.

An understatement if I ever heard one
With some basic skills it would be relatively easy to make a pengun-style coaxial and add a pistol grip and thumb trigger, something like this:
