I've just joined these forums, and see that there was a recent topic where a member asked for plans to build a cannon for under sixty bucks. -But, even though he was flamed and the topic was locked, I'm feeling a little generous tonight. - Please allow me to share with you, some of my experience in building a KICKASS combustion cannon... for under 60 bucks!

A 4" Female Cleanout Adapter will cost you anywhere from 4-5 dollars.
A 4" Male Cleanout Plug will cost you anywhere from 3-4 dollars.
A 4" SCH40 PVC Coupling will cost you anywhere from 4-5 dollars.
A 4" x 2-1/2" SCH40 Reducer Bushing will cost you 4-5 dollars.

6 feet of 2-1/2" SCH40 " @ $4.00/FT., will run you 24 dollars
2 feet of 4" SCH40 PVC @ $4.00/FT - $5.00/ft, will run you 8-10 dollars.
(1) One can of Christy's Red Hot Blue Glue will cost about 5 dollars.
(1) Mini Personal Fan - less than 5 bucks. (optional: runs over $60 budget)

Add 'em all up (HIGH Estimate & sans fan) and it comes out to 58 bucks, not including sales tax.

(Tip:
Measure the socket septh of each component that you'll be solvent-welding the pipe into, mark and mask that length on the pipe sections to be solvent-welded into them... and it won't make that much of a mess.)

Wanna build a bigger cannon?

6 feet of 6" SCH40 PVC pipe (PWEagle currently runs about $4.25/foot in my area) estimated HIGH @ $5/FT- $36
(1) 6" Female Cleanout - $12
(1) 6" Male Cleanout Plug - $8-$10
(1) Mini-Personal Fan - $2

(Hint:
If you are quoted any higher for these components, you are being bent over - Haggle, haggle, haggle - Lie, if you have to! -Tell 'em it's for a school project, like trapping and relocating small animals, artificial reef, marker bouy, etc. - be creative!) - They will be much more likely to come closer to a contractor discounted price for you.)

Hell, if ya wanna be REALLY thifty, build a big cannon out a single 10 foot length of 4" SCH40 PVC pipe, a cleanout, a plug, and a fan!

Feel free to drop me an e-mail me : kwazewabbitt@yahoo.com
if you have any other questions regarding this specific topic.

P.S.: WHY??? was that other topic posted/locked in the "Website" Forum?

@P.S......

Because of the reason you just stated im guessing....it was in the wrong section. It doesn't belong in the 'Website' forum more under combustion cannon discussion. This topic also should be moved to the 'how-to' section as it seems nicely written and set out. He also posted in ALL caps which isn't allowed here for obvious reasons and he didn't do any searching or anything for himslef and is just lazy. If he had done atleast 5minutes of studying I would have no problem helping him out, if you don't have time to study I dont have time for you type thing.

On another note welcome DR hope you will stay around after spudtech is back up as ive seen alot of your work on spudtech(I go by the same username there) and you would be a great contributor to this forum. :P

I'm a little stuck as to how to work on this - do I go with the typical welcome post, or the "OMG I'm so honoured" post.

Nice to see you over here - I'm wondering how long it will be before a n00b decides to start an argument with you...

Sweet! DR's here! XD

Yeah it's pathetic I see on the net people selling BASIC combustion cannons for $60+ and it makes me chuckle.

I love doing that occasionally I'll just grab a pipe lying around, a spare cleanout, two nails, and BBQ igniter and have at it. World's easiest combustion FTW...
