A little new, need some help

Hi all
I'm new to this forum and kinda new to spud guns although i've been looking to build one for a few years now.
I build a small "Q-tip cannon" a while ago out of a pen and medicine bottle that worked well, followed by a slightly larger cannon from a piece of copper pipe and a rollaids bottle... it was slightly less then sucsessful (exploded at me after 3 shots )
anyways I'm finnaly, probably, gonna spend some money and buld a real cannon. I have been looking for plans lately but they all seem too simple for me. I want some specific things from a cannon and all i keep finding is simple designs.
First off I can't seem to find pvc pipes... but there is lots of sizes and lenths of abs (i think thats what it is... the black stuff) at home depot ranging from 1-1/4" to 4" about 3' long to over 10' long.

I dont want to go spending money on something only to get boared with it 2 weeks later and want another... I want something with a fairly simple design that can be upgraded and do lots of stuff (I always liked cool gagets ) I want something that can shoot anything from potatos to tennis balls, and maybe even pop cans!!

I have always liked the ones that look like this

First off welcome to your NEW ADDICTION. im fairly new to building cannons but you can do alot of research by just clicking on the Wiki at the top right of the page or using the quick search. you could check out the cannon showcase and get some ideas about what your interested in and what you feel you are capable of making. you can figure out how to make most of these cannons just by looking at them in the showcase. hope this helps you a little bit.

Well number one, if you are going to make a pneumatic, dont use ABS pipe, everyone will get mad at you, i know because i have done it ABS is only recomended for combustion cannons, how ever, if you do make a pneumatic, dont post it on here 8). so assuming you are going to listen to my advice, you will find some great cannons to help you design your gun in the showcase area. all the best to you, hope to see a gun from you in the future. hmmm there are some planes on this site somwhere, wonder where they are?????

ummm... I want to build a combustion cannon, thats why I posted in the combustion section...
All I know is I want something with a handle that looks somewhat like the thing i drew above /\ and can shoot potatos, tennis balls, and pop cans.
I can only seem to find abs too, is that ok??
I want something that is easy to hold and aim at stuff too, that has a handle.

I looked at the wiki and found it fairly confusing...

I was thinking something like a 3" combustion chaimber and maybe put on a wooden handle with the sparker in it, then have a 3" m/f skrew adapter at the end of the chaimber to be able to interchange barrels. then have a 3" to ~2" adapter after the m/f adapter and go to the barrel size I want... or is it dangerious to have an adapter in the combustion chaimber?? ill try to make a diagram...

hahaha i am so stupid, of course it is in the combustion section, ok, now that i know what i am talking about (i think) here are some plan's for an "advanced combustion." oh and by the way, i can guarantee after you build one, you will build another that is why it is called an addiction, you can't stop at one.

you could probably make a simple combustion with a wooden handle and interchangable barrels like you said. if you want to shoot tennis balls then look at my topic "how to make 2.5 pcv"

I looked at that thread... I dont have 125 USD or the ability to get a stun gun...
looking for something simple with a BBQ ignighter here.
I'm prolly not gonna follow any plans exactly, might be better to tell me what NOT to do .

yea, that got in my sig, well you don't have to use the stun gun and spark strip and all that, that should give you an idea of all the parts you need to make the basic shell of it thou.
edit: out of the three people that said my name in my sig, you are the only one who spelled it right even Insomniac spelled it wrong, i am disappointed.
