i've been wondering this for a long time, how do most people go about mounting their piezo igniters? i usually just epoxy the two wires that come with the igniter directly into the cannon but that is hard with coaxials when the igniter hast to be about in the middle of the length of the chamber.

I buy those kitsets of an online New Zealand auction website.

dont epoxy them put 2 screws though the chamber and conect your wires to this

AND just to make sure, if you dont want any leaks, put teflon tape on the upper half of the screw, and put a touch of epoxy on the for good measure

i'm gonna need some short screws i accidentally put the coaxial on before installing the igniter ...anyhow, thank you! now i can finish after days of my half done cannon sitting around in my garage! i'm so exited

i held my peizo on with duckt tape.....

i'm gonna band-saw a reeeaaalll nice handle (i have always favored electrical over duct tape. idk why)

electrical is smaller thought. but its a close runner up.

another question while where off topic where do i find an easier source of little fans then bumming old 95s (computers) off of people?

You can get suitable fans at RadioShack, BestBuy, computer stores etc. but they tend to be pretty expensive.

You might try a surplus place like All Electronics or Electronics Goldmine. <a href="http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/c ... ype=">Here is All's DC fan pages</a>. Fans from 1" up to about 6" for $2 to $5 each. <a href="http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/i ... _.html">Or this one</a> for $15 that you can extract 8 fans from.

Besides computer and electronics chassis (muffin) fans you can use the cheapo "personal" fans from Kmart etc. You can usually get'm for a couple bucks each and the entire unit (fan + batteries) can be mounted inside the chamber. The fans move a ton of air, are cheap and simpler to use than computer fans. Unfortunately, the image links for the first URL all appear to be dead. To bad since I believe that particular post was the first use of this type of fan. I've never used these "personal" fans (I use CPU fans) but everything I've seen posted by people that do stuff right says this is the fan of choice.

One advantage of CPU fans (and most fans used in computers) is that they are brushless. There is a slight possibility that a standard fan (a fan with commutator brushes) could ignite the fuel. I, and others, have tried to use a brushed fan to ignite a gun and have never gotten it to work. So, it is unlikely, but probably not impossible, for a standard fan to ignite the fuel.
