1/4 ballvalve max. pressure?

it depends on the valve.... there is more than one type of ball valve out there you know

Depends on what type of ballvalve. There are some that are rated to 150psi and some that are rated up to I think a couple thousand psi if you are talking about the regular $6 home depot ones I don't think it would be as safe but I think it would hold. You never know you look at shrader valves and think they would be flimsy but can actually hold a hell of alot'a pressure. EDIT: beaten to the punch but this should give you a better idea.

You are british, and all metal BS ball valves have a "PN" rating. Most this small are PN50 I believe, meaning 50 bar, but it is entirely possible they go higher, particularly that small.
