Hi all, I have been on this site quite a bit over the past couple of years but this is my first post.
I have been wanting to get into hybrid cannons (yes I have read the wiki) and was hoping some of you would have words of wisdom.
Additionally, I have two aluminum scuba tanks sitting around that I would like to put to good use. Any suggestions? What I would really like is to integrate the tanks into a hybrid cannon.
Two Scuba tanks....Ideas?

I was looking at that one last night. Do you think that is a good hybrid design to follow? Also, are burst discs reusable?

sell them and buy some vodka??Any suggestions?
You can use build a fridge compressor and use one of them as a tank...
I know it's tempting to use them as chambers for hybrids but you have ot modify them a lot and they only make sense if we're talking about large bore guns...
if you can mod them then you might as well build your own chamebr from the scratch..
maybe it is just me but somehow I don't like the idea of wasting perfectly good HPA tanks

They were given to me by a friend who doesn't need them anymore, and I have no other use for them. So what you're saying is that building a hybrid off of one of the tanks would be more trouble than it's worth?
I already made one into a pneumatic gun, but my air compressor won't pump it over 100 psi. Any ideas how to get that number higher?
Thanks for the help, I am still open to hybrid suggestions/ ideas for the tanks.

Errm...
~600 psi seems to be typical for a "fridgy".
Typical suggestion, but still ... a good one.POLAND_SPUD wrote:You can use build a fridge compressor and use one of them as a tank...Any suggestions?

a huge high presure ball valve gun the ball valve would open fast froma pnetamic ram opening them in a flash like the nitrogen cannon on mythbusters
dont play with airsofter with 1000$ gun and play with a 5 dollar pair of glasses
Uuh, I think you need to do a little more reading into how burst disks function before you even think about building a hybrid...carpenoctem90hrs wrote: Also, are burst discs reusable?
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Would you like to send one of those fine pressure vessels my way?
Perhaps you should use one for spudding and take up SCUBA diving lessons. Also a scuba tank as a chamber is pretty overkill for a pneumatic chamber because of the fact that it bottle necks, which prevents it from performing to it's full potential. And even if you were to use it as a chamber, to get it up to a decent pressure would require a hug volume of air and it would brun a fridge compressor out very quickly.

Yeah, it's that important.

yeah it will require a lot of air... but who said it will burn out a fridge compressor? get a big fan and it can run constantly.. it has been done before by the guy from 4x4 forum (uhmm don't ask me for a link - I can't find it... but it has been done)
