Using oxygen rather than air with propane (or any other fuel) speeds up the rate of combustion, and the increased rate of combustion should make pressure generation faster, right?
Dumb question, but would this increased rate of pressure generation be significant enough to ditch the burst disk (or equatable component) at lower pressures (300-500 psi), or would its absence result in too great of a pressure/power loss to be at all efficient?
A project popped into my head that would be so much simpler if it didn't require a disk or piston, so I was curious
How necessary are burst disks at lower mixes?

There are many things to consider here, but I just say that atmospheric mixes of propane and oxygen, or even oxygen and acetylene won't go much higher then 300psi even in closed chamber. (correct me if I'm wrong).. So at best you could maybe get similar results to 3 or 4x mix hybrid using oxygen with some burning gas without burst disc.. but still even a 4x mix hybrid is quite low mix one.
