have you been sniffing PVC primer?

(Right on! Springers! ) Okay so what you mean is the spring is supposed to compress and hold the pressure right? And unlike a springer the air is released by a valve right? Well yeah it should work but wanting to have more pressure requires a bigger 'chamber' and a stronger spring... But seems a bit unsuitable for higher calibers (.5"+ or so, try cocking a 2" x 10" spring, or even finding one) but I don't know how actually holding a springer's pressure affects all that stuff...
I think doing the spring think manually (pumping, pretty much) would be better...
(I actually thought of this a while ago to not be dependant of a pump/compressor and making it way more portable and user friendly...but a normal springer seems more effective to me ...)

lol I SOO much expected you to give some weird math/physics-involved theories or something...jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:have you been sniffing PVC primer?
@fiddety: I have to ask, is English not your first language?
I could hypothetically work, but if you're too lazy to push a pump handle, you probably wouldn't want to be recocking the spring all the time. And to get the spring to recock itself, you would either need a compressed air source, or a (big) electric motor. Also, the size of spring that would be necessary to make this worthwhile would be rather dangerous to work with.
We all have our dumb ideas, the trick is to avoid posting all of them...

Spudfiles' resident expert on all things that sail through the air at improbable speeds, trailing an incandescent wake of ionized air, dissociated polymers and metal oxides.
As I can testify, having nearly half severed my finger trying it.DYI wrote:Also, the size of spring that would be necessary to make this worthwhile would be rather dangerous to work with.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

While building your own high pressure pump is safe

Not with that particular one-way valve.
that would be hard to do anyway, since it's in orbit somewhere..
( around Jupiter I believe)

Really you end up with the fact that you cant get more out than you put in, a compressor is nice cause all you need is a power source. Think of the spring forcing the air as one pump on a bike pump the same size as the spring chamber. The pressure wouldn't do shit.

Not trying to be mean.
But...fiddety, do you ever look back at your own threads?
