you dont get it... the point is that they have low flow, which is good in this case, they want the pop off to have a higher flow than the shrader (sp?) valve, so that it will regulate it to 100psi.

your other option would be to use a bleed valve as a trigger, so you get low flow, high pressure, which ends up being low pressure high flow pretty quickly as it moves down the pipes.

So then those tire inflators do have regs on them then? I was told before that they dont.

supposedly not... I find it hard to believe that that is true though, because what is to keep your tyre from popping incredibly easily?

But tires have alot of chamber volume, so they wont pop that easily.

how would you know when to stop? just carry an extra pressure gague with you?

My expansion chamber idea would only need 14 cubic inches of expansion volume. You never really elaborated on "how small" your weapon is going to be, but if it is a sub-gun-type rifle, then an under-barrel reservoir would work well.

If not that, then I say just get a cheap tire inflator, (with no regulator), and hook up to a Palmer inline regulator in some way.

The expansion chamber would increase consistency as well. :wink:

only if you were starting with a completely empty tyre. If you were just toping off a low tyre, then you would still have a hell of a lot left over. Anyone have any insights into this? is the flow just so low and the volume of the tyre so high that you can regularly check it with a gauge?

Here's a very quick diagram of the gun.
The dark blue thing is a schrader, where the inflator will be connected. The light blue chamber is where the pressure is built up. The brown square is the QEV and the pink thing is the pop-off valve. The black rectangle is the barrel.

general idea is nice, thoug not sure how well your clip will work... what keeps the pressure from blowing the BBs out of it, or just not letting them down, and if they do come down, what keeps them all from emptying at once?

Well I know my CO2 tire inflator will only inflate to 125psi, and to test this I just went out, pumped my tire up to 110 psi with a track pump and then tried the tire inflator, and sure enough it didn't pop the tire.

And that with a very skinny 700c racing tire, not a big fat mtb tire.

a 40ci chamber will give you about 105 psi from a 12 gram co2 cartridge, you do not need a reg for this. simply control the psi by the size of your air chamber. maybe this will help you. http://www.spudfiles.com/spud_wiki/inde ... _cartridge

Here's a regulator, which is designed to fit 12 and 16 gram CO2 cartridges and is adjustable from 15/150psi. You could always e-mail them to ask the price.

Woa, that clickie regulator is just what i need.... too bad they dont seem to sell it to particulars outside U.S.

The gun will be fed trough the magazine, equiped with a basic, non-inovative blow-forward bolt. I have'nt displayed it on the diagram because it was not useful for the question.

The pop-off valve i will use should pop-off at 115 PSI. Looking at the pressure chart, im afraid i might need a lower pop-off valve.
