Many people have seen Piper's Strafer Mk4 (shown here for those that haven't)

I have a friend who actually owns it, and let me borrow the beast for a night.

Long story short, the cold weather made it shoot when my finger wasn't on the trigger. At that point, my hand was about 3 inches from the muzzle. This is what happened:

needless to say it hurt. a lot. And this was just at 300 fps. I'm glad I didn't have the regulator for 600 on it. This pic was from after two days. That was about a month ago.

After it healed and I could touch it again without opening the cut, I noticed a painful lump inside my hand. I went to a doctor friend at church this past Sunday and he took me to his office to check it out.

After about a half hour of digging, this came out.

I guess it's bound to happen with 150 bb/s coming at you.
Cool, right?

Thats Crazy, and you didnt look to see if there was a bb in your skin in the first place why? Did you not feel the bb in there when you shot yourself?

It hit the bone when it went in. All i could feel was a numbing sensation throughout my entire hand. It hurt too much to touch before it had healed completely. We were about 200 meters from a friend's house, so i quickly walked down and washed it and put a band-aid on. It hurt too much and was bleeding too much to tell. I tried to look in and see if there was a bb, but couldn't make it out.

getting it cleaned out and patched up was my first priority. After that I took it easy with my left hand for a while so it could heal faster.

Jeeesh ouch...no that's not very cool at all. I'm sure you had a pretty good infection going on there with that airsoft BB under your skin. I'm surprised you didn't feel that in there to begin with.

One question. How did cold weather make the gun shoot by itself?

maybe, but that'd be a bio hazard
I'm working on making it into a key chain or necklace of some sort. Kind of a good luck charm

i don't know. It shot fine out my window that morning (room temperature) but that night around 9:00 p.m., it was probably 45-50 degrees F. The temperature was the only variable.
Besides that fact, I don't know why it happened, I just know that it did

I have a similar problem with my KWA glock 17. When the temperature drops below 60 degrees F, it will actually fire in short bursts of automatic with a single trigger pull.
Again, Temperature is the only thing changing.

You should write the manufacture to warn them of this danger, so that they can investigate it, to protect their customers, as well as the country's law enforcement. This could be potentially deadly, or at least cause serious harm, if it accidentally fired, when it was swinging near someone's face...

Damn, I gotta get me one of those shootin' contraptions. On a serious note, that is kinda cool in a (sic) and twisted way. Makes me want to try and make one for myself, though without the CO2 it'd be like 1/8" as fun.

Bet you had a good time explaining it to all your friends :P

I've had very similar things happen to me, except I usually extract the debris almost immediately, as I've long since been a master at tool box surgery (i.e. knowing how to fix my work related injuries with tools).

I think that most of such things have come out... actually, there may still be parts of a stable embedded in my left hand. I don't remember if I got all of that out.

well, it was kind of bleeding too much to see anything, and hurt too much to touch at all. Like I said, the bbs hit the bone and rattled my whole hand to the point where I thought it might have broken my finger The only tools I had on my person were a pocket knife and a set of allen wrenches.

as for the steel bbs, it could have been just as bad if i had the 600 fps (170 psi) regulator on the tank. i mean, did you see what it did to that watermelon? And that was only at 140 psi

I also wrote X-Caliber Tactical last night after the suggestion to do so.

As for the "lol, guys look what used to be my hand" i have a friend that tried to open a 12g CO2 cartridge with a pair of pliers when he was younger. needless to say it didn't end well

I blow those up for a lark, but not with pliers, I do it at a safe distance - back up 15 yards and shoot the ends out of them with my air rifle so they fly off into the distance. Slightly costly fun, but good for entertaining people.

Or if I'm feeling destructive, fire them still pressurized out of my launchers, but there may be arguments about whether that breaks the forums "no explosive projectiles" rule, so I'll keep quiet on that one.
