haha xactly on the ghetto thing, lol but um for vortex blocks, whats a better design then mine? i'm going to make my next one out of laminated polycarbonate sheet, its a heck of a lot easier to work with the acrylic and it definitely wont break, im doing everything with airsoft for now, but eventually im going to make a metal bb one too, im trying to copy neospud's inline guns because the work so flawlessly, trying to sorta steal his vortex block idea, it just works so many times better then mine lol, im also ordering a barrel for airsoft bbs and one for metal for later, im assuming that will increase my range significantly going off the idea that for air cannons, longer barrel = better everything, also with my design with just a cap on the end of the body, theres no way for me to remove my vortex block, is it cool just to make it shorter and drill a screw from the top down into it? that would let me get away with keeping solid un-modded pvc pieces in the design and allow me access and have the ability to change out my vortex block if i want again any suggestions?

made a new improved vortex block works like a charm, also new spring feeding mechanism keeps the thing fed, now i just need a real barrel, i'll incorporate it into a gun, probably an mp5 like i wanted to and do they make a screw 2in cap? instead of a plug? because then i would be able to interchange my block and switch it out for a airsoft to a bb set up, any help with this? i'd look to do a cam lock or something with just a plain cap and be able to replace it like that, it would offer direct access to the vortex block and allow for easier barrel swap,

hmmm alrite well that would be perfect.... hmmm i'll have to check menards again otherwise i'll have to go to the other stores (lowes and home depot) which i despise.... but im loving my my new set up, still a few kinks with my feeding spring but they're minor problems, once i have my action to be perfect before i start incorporating it into an mp5 styled gun

quick question on barrels, for metal bbs and airsoft. metal bbs are .177 of an inch, closest normal american unit is about 6/32 which is .1875, is that close enough? i know a tight bore airsoft barrel is like .03 of a mm bigger then the bb which is like .00012 of an inch, seems like a big gap to me, also airsoft is closest to 1/4, airsoft pellets are about .236 of an inch, thats pretty stretched as well, what do you think?

Well I don't know about in the US, but at a model store here I found a length of aluminum tube with an ID of 4.572mm, so pretty damn close to a 0.177" BB (4.5mm, well actually 4.4958mm) I'd assume you could find a closer standard size. The smaller you can get the gap the better of couse, but it's up to you and how efficient/powerful you need it.Mr.michael.2468 wrote:quick question on barrels, for metal bbs and airsoft. metal bbs are .177 of an inch, closest normal american unit is about 6/32 which is .1875, is that close enough? i know a tight bore airsoft barrel is like .03 of a mm bigger then the bb which is like .00012 of an inch, seems like a big gap to me, also airsoft is closest to 1/4, airsoft pellets are about .236 of an inch, thats pretty stretched as well, what do you think?

well of course more efficient is better lol any one from the us have some help on this one? unfortunately american standards don't come very close to metal or airsoft bbs, anyone know if these gaps will work at all? i'd like it to be reasonably accurate though i realize with a burst shot of like 50 bbs in a couple seconds accuracy is not a huge concern lol just wondering if that the gaps in the tubing i found will work at all, because if its to bad the air wlll go right around the bbs, though were talking in in thousandths of an inch here lol it seems like that gap would be super small, i was just going off what a tight bore barrel was for an airsoft gun,
you will need the space around it .03 of a millemiter is seriosly tight remember to think tolerens if you have a bbs that are +/- say .03mm you ar f***ed the bb will be loged in the barrle. and 0.03 of a mm is fanomenaly small you cant tell by eye also there will be a tolerens in the actual barrle of around less than .03mm.
and any tiny iperfection on the bb aor the barrle or both is going to act like a gostly hope up in the wrong position.
best stay with a tight bore any smaller wil start plaing bad games of in yer face.
also ever thought of threding the air soft barrle or a sett screw to hold t in place.

ya i was going to try to thread the barrel if i have i die that will fit otherwise i'll just use some molding epoxy gotta love that stuff lol and ya my tightbore on my jg m4 is 6.03 they make em even tighter for snipers, but thats actually recommended for aeg barrels because the barrel allows for a little speck of dirt to be in the barrel and still shoot, but i'm just wondering if any one has actually used american standards for barrels for airsoft and bbs and had it work well im going to bring a bb and and airsoft pellet along to the store and see how bad the gap is

I've used 1/4" barrels before that are 6.35mm ID and they work fine but I am now using a 6.03mm tightbore and it is amazing.
