Hey guys,

Recently I built an air rifle that shoots darts. It is full metal bullpup design and the pressure chamber is a 1 meter long galvanized steel pipe. My valve is a QEV ebay valve, 1/2" size. 90 psi. The gun is very strong and One of my favorite that I built.

Just yesterday, I was experimenting with the gun using different ways to fire it. Right now It fires with a 1/2" ball valve. I tried to fire the gun by using the schrader valve and to my amazement, it worked! But! For some weird reason, the valve actually closed again which gave me another shot. I got 2 shots out of the gun shooting some pretty heavy darts and they were penetrating 1 cm fence wood. The gun operated like this at 90 psi.

Then it came to me. What if I was able to make a new gun, the same way, except the valve will use less air, shoot .22 or .177 pellets and have a lot more shots? Maybe a hammer and spring to hit the schrader valve? So I had an idea, what if I was to use this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pneumatic-Quick ... 3ca1f7b400 (I hope it is 10mm threads) use a 1/2" 75cm long galvanized steel pipe for the chamber and then a schrader valve to pilot the gun? I would use 100 psi + on it. Will this idea work?

I was also thinking, what is a regulator? I'm sure someone here would be able to give a better explanation than google search. Right now, I'm thinking a pressure regulator is a device which only allows a certain amount of air passed it at one time? If I was to regulate 100 psi then the device would only let 100 psi passed it? Am I correct?
If so, should I use one for this project?

Thanks! :D

PS: My dad lost his job, can't get lathe and mill for a while now. Actually thinking of getting a CNC instead of lathe.

Nothing remarkable about that.

if you're filling from the chamber side, you need to modify the QEV piston/diaphragm.

Booooo... but wait, you can't afford a manual lathe or mill, but can afford a computer controlled lathe or mill?

lol one of teh noobest posts ever.

nothing new really its the same way wyzz's made his first few semi's.

A regulator just let a set amount of pressure pass. you could have a paint ball tank that has 800psi in the tank a regulator can make it so only 150psi is let out.

Can't afford either. I was thinking of instead of the lathe, save up for the CNC instead. I'm not really into making functional weapons anymore. I want to make other things such as weapons from games such as Halo. Props only. Also, I am filling from the pilot side.

Crna Legija, you don't have to be so rude about it. I knew it was possible to have a multi shot and I also knew Wyzz did it before. I thought the schrader would have just dumped the whole air source, not allowed for another shot. Seriously, you really don't know how to welcome a member who has been gone for a while.

Anyway, I'm going to start drawing a design. I hope the 1/4" QEV will be the right seize to fire pellets. Also, is a schrader a good enough pilot? Or should I make my own pilot with a nice air flow? I don't want something that has too much flow or that will use up to much pressure.

Apart from that, I have one factory made QEV that need to be filled from pilot side, the piston doesn´t let the air to pass from chamber to pilot. If Derp has used a factory made QEV, how can that happened? His chamber is big and tire valve has a low flow, but the piston should not have re-closed :?

If you only let out a small amount of pilot volume, it can still re-close.
