hi guys,
so i have some issues regarding the design of my airsoft barrel-
1- i was thinking of placing the 6mm barrel inside a 1/2" brass pipe which will then be fastened to the QEV via your standard brass fittings. was thinking of gluing washers inside either end of the brass pipe and inserting the 6mm barrel inside the washer holes to hold the barrel in place. is there an easier way to do this?
2- my loading system will prevent the bb from rolling back in the barrel, but how do stop it from rolling out the end?
thanks in advance

Does a 6mm barrel even fit in a 1/4" pipe? if 1/4" is the inner diameter then that gives you a wall thickness of 0.175mm...big_boom wrote:1- i was thinking of placing the 6mm barrel inside a 1/4" brass pipe which will then be fastened to the QEV via your standard brass fittings. was thinking of gluing washers inside either end of the brass pipe and inserting the 6mm barrel inside the washer holes to hold the barrel in place. is there an easier way to do this?
Why not just epoxy the 6mm barrel to a male fitting?
There are various types of "detent" you can use, one way to do it is to saw a small slit in the barrel, then slip an o-ring over it and epoxy in place. It can also get a bit more complicated:2- my loading system will prevent the bb from rolling back in the barrel, but how do stop it from rolling out the end?

Right. What you can do to centre it instead of bothering with washers is to simply wrap the ends of the 6mm barrel with tape until you bring it up to the pipe ID, I find narrow masking tape works well for these applications.big_boom wrote:woops, that was meant to be 1/2".
For this I just used masking tape wrapping, epoxy and brass tubing: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/mini-0- ... 20101.html
