Hello there, first post, be gentle:3.
I'm making an airsoft M16 gun (will post pics when done), using some brass tubing, an air compressor pistol and an HPA/CO2 source. I really want to make the gun skirmishable, and carrying an air compressor arround isn't very handy I suppose. I heard about using regulated CO2 instead of HPA, and I know how you can make a CO2 gun. However, I have absolutely no idea what a CO2 regulator does. I want to get arround 20-30 shots per 12g or 16 gram cartridge, is this do-able?
Thanks, and have fun.

Co2 at room temperature has a vapor pressure of roughly 850psi. If you pulled straight off the co2 bottle...this is the pressure you would get.

If you run the co2 through a regulator, you can reduce the pressure to what ever the regulator set point is.

A good co2 regulator is the Palmers Pursuit female stabilizer...it will thread right onto a paintball style co2 cylinder and is adjustable for output pressure.

This one for low pressure...

The price of a Palmers plus c02 setup cost almost as much as a co2 airsoft gun tho... If you're looking into 20-30 rounds per cartridge (same as an airsoft co2 magazine).

Never tried a Palmers, CP inline regulators are good enough for me while offer much bigger pressure range, not cheap neither tho.
