This one's still my favorite design of all time.
I saw the video on youtube and watched it over and over before I joined SF. Then JSR replied back to one of my posts linking me to it.
I was stunned that I was having a conversation with the creator of this design!!!

Well, Haven't read all 8 pages of replies yet but it came up on "random cannon" and I hadn't replied yet. Genius and simple design. With other possibilities as well  8)

I can't claim it to be my design really, it's a variation of a mechanism that's been patented years ago. What it takes though is a bit of patience and ingenuity with the materials at hand to transform a good idea into a working prototype.

Yeah, but I didn't see anyone else actualy build one and use clear materials so it's function could be studied so well.

Besides I think you can patent only an exact design but not a concept or principal or variation of one.
There are many variations of this one I'd like to tinker with. 8)

EDIT:That was only after I saw your version of it.

hey jack, I dont know if you already made this> a blowforward breech with a poppet valve at the back. So you push the piston forward and then when u release it with the trigger it goes back hits the valve, moves back forward and then release the air while closing the bb port"". My experience with a similar piston idea but then with a vent hole"" for the bbs at the side lost significant power. So with this inline concept I thought it could be made auto pretty easily. My stacked tube is now auto (but it doesnt shoot bbs:S) but it can shoot about 40 times on a 1.5L bottle at 7-8 bar. So that was my goal for this concept.

That would basically be this design, might be worth building:

Think maybe a valve from a beer keg would work for that "Poppet valve"?
Looks similar, and whenever I've seen that valve it comes to mind. 8)

Again, you would need one hell of a spring driving that bolt, unless you plan on using 10 psi or so...

Hey, I like your gun haven't replied for a long time, but anyway I got a question, is this gun air efficient, because after my vortex I was planning to make something semi-auto / ant's bolt rifle.

I can't get airsoft here so, if your semi-auto is air efficient I was planning to make one of your designs because it looks very simple :D.
It's Nerf or Nothing.

Don't start crying when I play this as my hobby, Paintball, Airsoft and Nerf are equally good hobbies, except you can play Nerf in public. Good day! Hmph!

Compared to a vortex it's very efficient, to fire a BBMG you have to keep the blowgun open all the time, but with this you just use short bursts for single shots that have the power of a good airsoft sniper - so it will last you a lot more. Ant's design would be even more efficient though, it probably uses less air per shot.

Ant's is probably one of the more efficient ones on the site, this design is also somewhat efficent. Both of them are extremely more efficient than BBMGs however each has its own purpose and advantages.

What can I say.. 95 shots on a 0.5liter bottle at 7.5bar. Check for yourself: speed and efficiency test

Image

btw the speed is in km/h bc it is easier to compare to ft/s:)

Certainly more efficient, but with less than half the performance of the subject of this thread (that uses the same pressure and a 36 inch barrel) - it's a matter of compromise.

Holy shat... I didn't realise it before 0.5L at 7.5bar (I think about 50psi'ish) 95 shots... thats crazy. I'll probably going to attempt to build both, but I'll see how I got lol. I'm hoping about 100+shots with Jack's gun, and about ALOT of shots from Ant's gun.. both easy concepts :D

Not quite. 7.5 bar is just under 110 psi. Still very impressive, but not quite as efficent as you thought.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
