DWV in Cloud BBMG's

Hey guys,

Just a quick question, is it advisable to use DWV 1" PVC Pipe as your cloud chamber, where you are operating on a 2.25L Soda Bottle on 90PSI.

Or will it explode? Btw I'm also putting the rubber hop up made by kashmunni where I tested it in my MP5 Navy and it' produced 25metres max range, and one of 3 times the beads went perfectly straight.

I'm just using DWV" since it's cheaper and easier to bulk buy, and using them to bulk build various cloud chamber guns.

Edit: Oops sorry :S

Well just for future reference it is refered to as "DWV"

And i suposse it would be ok to use since the chamber is not under any consistant pressure. Its more of a tank for your bb's that air passes through.

But then again, there is a potantial danger if you get a clog.

Im not an expert but i would say it would be ok as long as the gun is well built and it is SCH 40. Yes i know SCH 40 is not a pressure rating but it is less likely to fail than thin wall.

I'm going to step out on a limb here, and guess that you mean "Drain Waste Vent or DWV".

IMO it's a bad idea. Some members freak out when that stuff gets used at all let alone at 90psi.

Go with safe and proven, spend the extra money, and get pressure rated stuff.

If it never blows up, that has to be a good thing right? :)

From my tests 110 psi input to the cloud chamber resulted in an internal pressure of less than 30 psi during regular operation, however there's always the possibility of a BB jamming in the barrel that could potentially result in pressure rise and catastrophic failure.

ive used a pill bottle as a BBMG chamber.

if it blows up, it most likely wont be catastrophic enough to do much anyway........

Yeah I've done that, my non threaded clip blew out and i lost all my beads to the ground :(.

I'm thinking of buying Sch40 T piece as my cloud chamber, much easier to deal with and going to use the "l" on the T tube as my loading mechanism.

My beads get jammed in my hop up at around 20PSI, but I was using pressure rated pieces, Sch40 Coupling and 100PSI rated hose.

But anyway, I think i'll use pressure rated T pieces, thanks the responses.
