Its ROF is very consistent - I suspect it uses a solenoid valve + timing relay/555timer to achieve fullauto

Your probably right mate!?,Looks and sounds to have decent power too= its the same guy who made this beast!

There don't seem to be any 'lectric wires coming out of it though, but the trigger does look more like a switch than a valve, so on board batter perhaps, hmmmm...

IIRC that SMG uses a hammer valve. Apparently the guy concluded that it is cheaper to use off the shelf parts than to machine everything from the scratch. Also it is easier to bring ROF down with a pneumatic or electronic timing system
The loading mechanism is probably just a simple T/airsoft hopup unit
Prototype of a tripod mounted full auto airgun inspired by the Browning M1919; not a replica. This airgun fires BBs over 700fps at 250rpm. BB hopper holds 2000 BBs and is fed with a wind-up-spring (on bottom) similar to airsoft high cap mags
Not a bad idea if you ask me. I suggested something like this a while ago, all it needs is a solenoid valve + timer relay/555timer + hopup unit for fullauto,
or 3 way + hopup unit for semiauto

So who's gonna make one?,if understood how to rig one up I'd give it a go= would it be possible to make one of these select fire ie Semi and Full Auto,now that would rock!! 8)

yeah, no problem.
You just need: a simple toggle electrical switch (Single pole changeover http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switch) that will let you choose between two options - send the signal from the trigger directly to the solenoid (for semi) or via timing relay/555timer to the solenoid
a single pole changer switch that I mentioned earlier and basically any push button for the trigger
a time relay

On Time First'
When you press the trigger this thing will convert that into a series of pulses, let say 0.1 sec long in 0.1 sec long intervals... As a result the valve will start switching from one position to the other - in the first one filling the chamber and exhausting it through the barrel in the second
And that's it basically... Of course you need a barrel, batter and a magazine too...
This thing uses the 3 way as the main valve - a 1/4" one should work great for airsoft but if you want more power then it might be a good idea to buy a 3/8" DCV. Of course you can add a QEV too (as this thing works exactly like the QEV + DCV combo) - it's not a bad idea if you have a small QEV lying around and it should help you to cut costs as you can get away with a 1/8" DCV if you use a small QEV.
It might sound complicated but it isn't. You just have to understand get the right parts and then put them together
Ohh I experimented with this idea a while ago. Here is the time relay (yeah I know it is large but it was rather old so I got it quite cheap)
And the semiauto MKII with the timer hooked up to the solenoid.

ohhh BTW if you have any problems with finding time delay relays don't forget that cars use them too
Also, keep in mind that you can build a semiauto version first, and then upgrade it to fullauto once you find a suitable time relay.

yep - Dakka Dakka all day long, and its built into the shell of a real 1919, hence it looks like a beats. but I figure if you managed to build something that far it wouldnt take a lot of extra effort to put say load BB infront of the shells and you would then have a belt fed combustion machine gun.
Beyond the realms of anything im likely to play with (and you cant get the parts kits in Aussieland anyway) but like I said, its good for inspiration.
