Closest Thing to an Australian BB gun

Ever since I was tiny I always wanted a BB handgun.. I got some short tastes of them on my trips to bali, but never had the balls to try and bring one back.
So I whipped this up yesterday... Its pretty much just a bb gun, not airsoft, but Id compare being shot by it like being shot by the handguns and shotguns I had in bali.. So its fun for around the house.
Its a modded Nerf gun.. I changed the barrels etc, took out the restrictors, improved the seals, and increased the strength of the spring.. Oh and gave it a little paint job
It hurts, and will leave a little welt depending on the distance you get shot from..
Total cost was $22... And Iv been using 6mm beads as ammo..
So there you have it, for all those kids in aus who have always wanted a low strength(ish) BB handgun.. Here it is

I have the cheaper single shot with a spring that I can barely draw with the small grip it has, I'm 6'3" and ~100KG I do hope I have the ' and " around the right way.

With the night finder I tried it with a 4.5mm barrel, 0.6g bbs, it left a bruise I didn't forget for a while. (I'll add I tested it's power on a foam box prior to the self test.

Might want safety glasses or a face mask if you soup up the spring.

And now for the comment from every 1337 nerf m0ddzorz with a secret strike that shoots 800ft with one pump: have you removed the ARs???

Yeah I was gonna go for that one... But the cocking style of the mavrick, plus a 6 round capacity won me over.. Im sure it would have less power though, due to the loss of air between the piston and barrel.. but its not weak, I immediately regretted shooting myself in the foot when I first made it..
And yeah mines pretty hard to cock too, I put another spring through the middle of the stock spring.. Now I have a blister on my hand from holding it when I'm cocking it..

I immediately regretted shooting myself in the foot when I first made it..

Now I could have some fun with that statement.

Of the three times I've been shot with a nerf gun, all were at TAFE (I'm sure you'll recognize that), all the times I was hit in the eye, twice with my l33t night finder, once with a buzz bee tek 3.

I was only hit in the right eye, thus I deduced projectiles never home, unless an ocular target is involved.

You might want to look at the tek 3, they cost around $4 and are rather powerful, it could make a fun pocket bb gun.

Interesting, one thing that is desirable in springers is to have the pellet restricted at the breech in order to allow pressure buildup but in this case due to poor drum/breech interface it wouldn't really work out.

If you want to make a better mod, ditch the revolver magazine completely, fit a fixed barrel and inline magazine.

Believe it or not, it actually does have a setup slightly like that... inside the barrel there is shrink tube at the back end.. when you load and put the bb it the barrel it gets stuck in there, sort of creating a seal..

To be honest it would probably work with the simple tee magazine I'm always recommending, as long as a reasonably stiff spring is used in the magazine tube.

On an almost unrelated note, here's a patent for a breech seal for break barrel airguns that also seeks to retain the pellet in order to allow peak pressureto be achieved.

Importing BB guns into Aus is under the same umbrella as importing a glock or any other fire arm.. Unless they have some serious smuggling operation going on.. Have you bought one? Do you have pics? How much did you pay? And can you get me one

um well last time i checked they said you can only import them if they are under 300fps i think and they have some licence as well but the guns are $400

oh yea i forgot i think they shoot over 50 meters but they dont seem to be too legit and sound more like they are smuggling them in but they have a shooting range next to their shop and they have a AUG, AK47 and i think a M4, it cost like $15 to have a phew shots but i don't know how the hell they got them in to Australia.
