Silencer help.

I did my research on google, and I made my own silencer (1 inch pvc with a pipe warmer inside of it. Slips over the barrel) and it kind of works. I need it to silence even more though, and paintball guns are hard to silence by the sounds of it. Looks like I need to design another, does anyone have any tips that might help?

for a pneumatic, the only way is massive volume no need for the fluffy stuff in it, bigger is better.

Next time do your research on spudfiles ;)

This is for a semi-automatic marker ?

A lot of noise comes from the breach. Just try blocking it off when firing as a test.
I once stuck insulating foam tape to the inside of a simple gravity loader to stop rattling sounds when running and that actually also reduced the sound of the shot. I also had taped the the part that goes into the feed neck.

I have managed to slightly reduce and modify the sound of a semi-auto but not really to any impressive extent. One thing that does make the shot practically silent though, is having a disposable seal on the end of the silencer, something that will be pierced by the paintball. But obvisouly that only works for one shot and the seal has to be replaced.

Al, this is for a automatic. I just converted it for my friend, and now I need to silence it a bit. I am sure you understand why.... I guess its gonna be too hard to figure out how to silence a gun that has about 20 cycles per 2 seconds....

Yeah, my attempts were on a stock board ION, so yeah 10bps auto, 17bps assisted semi. You can reduce volume slightly and get rid of the higher frequency sound. It makes it harder to locate but no where near silent.

If you're willing to sacrifice a little velocity, a slightly over length barrel helps, or if you are using a silencer have the porting earlier on down the barrel and keep quite a long un-ported section to make sure the pressure drops enough before the ball leaves the barrel.

Ok. Well this thing sounds like a chain saw or something when it gets going, and it cycles so fast its hard to see the manual cocking slide go back...
