what im in the market for is a sniper bb gun that cocks via bolt action, however there doesn't seem to be any...
i was curious if i could replace the spring sytem inside my airsoft awp with a nitro piston like that in the break barrel single shot bb guns, and change the feeder and barrel but i just dunno if thats where i should start, im sure it would be tuff to pull back,
i would like a real clip size or even a tube full like an old red ryder
so i could just pull the bolt back and fire

if im going the modding route i was thinking to have a power assist, so its similar to pulling a real bolt back.

any suggestions or links would be appreciated

Hmph. BB guns use very strong springs, that is why springers are break barrel. Airsoft guns can be bolt action because they don't require are strong or large springs. A conversion won't work well, because airsoft guns aren't built for the forces involved in a pellet gun.

By "BB gun" do you mean 0.177"/4.5mm calibre that can do some damage?

As Gun Freak pointed out, break barrels are built that way because the extra leverage is needed to cock the more powerful spring.

Just to give you an idea, airsoft spring:

Spring from a relatively low powered break barrel:

The difference is strength is considerable, there's no way you could cock the second one without some sort of lever.

You're better off going pneumatic, tons more power potential, and maybe even multishot ;)

Jsr is right, unless you have an arm which can lift a few rhinoceroses, (and yes that is the correct term, for those grammar Nazis out there) then there is no hope in hell that you will be able to cock an air rifle spring back by bolt action. if you really want realism and coolness then you can make a pneumatic using some info from this very site, and then if you are a good hand with a saw and planer then you could make a very realistic un'ghetto' gun. :)
it's an ambition I hope to achieve one day, the satisfaction of making such an item would be incredible. :D
good luck on whatever you wish to go with though. :)

Yes

I was thinking of some sort of internal pulleys and a cable, maybe some power assist the airsoft is already to tough, i want to achieve the feel of the real thing

i could throw away all the airsoft internals, all i really want is the body

This is the only spring powered (airsoft) bb gun I know

I have stressed this too soo many people before, from a lot of experience rebody-ing, (aka just using the shell) does not work if you have moving internals.
unless the shell is very robust, and with many mounting points for springs catches etc then it will always feel clunky, and cheap. and if you want a realistic feel that is the right way to go for aesthetics, but you won't get a realistic feeling gun.
I was thinking of some sort of internal pulleys
internal pulleys? never tried em! I have heard of them being used in professional spring powered guns though, I do remember seeing something of the sort a while back - perhaps some rooting through Google searches and seeing if it has been done and how might be a good idea.
