Planning on building a simple piston valve or QEV valve airsoft gun. Can't figure out much of the loading mech, but I want to do a bolt-action system.
So my questions are
1: How to do a detent on an airsoft barrel
2: IS there any way to do a detent with MINIMAL modification of the barrel.

The first answer is putting your question in the right section.

Two easy ways I've used are:
Cutting a little groove in the barrel with a hacksaw and putting an o-ring in the groove so that it protrudes into the barrel the slightest bit.
Drilling a tiny hole in the barrel and poking a toothbrush bristle through.
Jsr I cant wait to see you make one for marbles i can picture it now.*jsr shoots a tree* " why do they call them bears 8 ran after i test fired my marble gun."

UPDATE
I purchased a 455mm 6.03 tightbore barrel with hop up/hopup chamber. Waiting for an actual magazine to come, i tried to make my own and it didn't work. The firing valve is a commercial 1/4 QEV with a slide valve to actuate. I will be making a 3-layered wooden body/stock/casing for it in the shape of a rifle. My plan is to have the middle slice be as wide as the widest component, and then cut out channels for everything to fit into, and put a thin layer on both sides.

If you want a bolt action than the detent is the bolt that pushes the bb inside the barrel. You will have to work as fine as posiblle, cause if you push it too hard it wont move when you shoot. I use this sistem on my qev and it works fine.
