I made a pengun out of a clear pentube. You can see the piston actuating I guess you would appreciate me showing you this. It won't stay clear I am going to fiberglass it. Video up soon near you.

Thats really cool. I would leave it clear so you can show your unknowing friends how your marker guns or some pen guns work. I know when people ask me how pistons work I will show them your video now.
Btw, what pressure are you running that pen tube?
Edit:Grammar

Cool. Instead of fiber glassing I'd recommend epoxying it and then tightly wrapping it in a braided fishing line such as spectra. Cool to see this piston working though.

Ah it isn't that great to see the piston working olny a little I think I will fiberglass it because of the barrel alignment thing. I don't know exactly how much pressure I used my mini pump (no guage) it doesn't metter though penguns don't need accuracy and repeatableness. The general thing for penguns is MOAR POWER! because they are normally fired from the side of your head and are so small.

I still haven't managed to get a metal pengun to work so far, so I'm just gonna use my RAP pens (they're awesome, rifled and thick, but not brittle-they split like abs, rather than shattering like pvc.) until I can iron all the bugs out.. When I've got the plastic one working I'll nick some of dad's carbon-fibre braided fishing line and reinforce it by wrapping it with that and coating with epoxy 8)

Pretty rich coming from you isn't it? Just messin..
Mum just brang home a sheet of adhesive hi-grade rubber stuff, so I'm gonna try that..

No, it's the voice of experience - I blow up my launchers, so others don't have to

its pretty cool you can see the piston actuating... but learn from JSR's mistake and don't over pressurise it

Surprising enough I think this tube could hold 500 psi just because of the shape and diameter. Coupled with the fiberglass it could probably hold 700.

well... no offence but i'd wait unti you have fiber wrapped it before the real pressure testing starts
i wouldn't be surprised if it could hold 500psi... but if it has a small defect then it could blow.

Turns out just cause you "think" somehing can hold high pressure, not always the case
