Mini Keychain Coax (Updated with damage pics and video)

I had some spare brass tubes laying around my garage and decided to make something of some of em. Seeing as how penguns are all the rage and I have already built one, I was trying to think of something different. Smaller seemed to be a good contrast to my last project.

Here she is, the keychain coax. I think it goes without saying that I didn't build this for performance seeing as how the barrel is only about one inch long. I do think that it is a cool novelty and I also think that I have the coolest keychain on the planet.

I have test fired it at around 100 PSI so far and it works. It will shoot a small nail dart across the room no problem at this pressure. I will wait till tomorrow to test it at higher pressures (wanna be sure the epoxy is set up). If I can enter a soda can, I will be impressed and satisfied.

Here are a few pics....

Compared to my pengun...

The nail darts are tiny...

Not at all to scale, but I hope this is somewhat clear....

The up(down?)grade:

It entered AND exited a beer can! it only took 400 psi

The nail darts stick into drywall about 1/4 inch at 400 psi

DAMAGE video... Sorta. Me shooting a beer can at 400 psi

Read through your posts before clicking submit

Props to JSR: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/files/p ... to_101.jpg It's similar to that.

Awesome though, I'm still trying to get my pengun to work! Might have to bribe JSR into building me one and sneaking it through customs..

That thing's tiny! more fool the person who tried to mug you!..... i can imagine it now:

Mugger - "give me your wallet!"
Jook - "wait just one minute!" *produces shock pump from pocket and pumps up keychain gun* :D

When I get my flipping gun working (sealing face is giving me issues) I want to build a scaled down version of the pump in in how to's, pocket sized!

Oh yeah that's really nice. Love the finished look epoxy ends. It's small but I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those nail darts!

Great job Jook!!

sweet deal, although you could have gotten away with a larger barrel... for bb's and such... Altogether I like it though, It reminds me of one of JSR's preloaded cartridge ideas... only the piston was further down the rod, and sealed right against the opposite wall.

How is it in terms of air-tightness? as in, if you pumped it up the morning, went to work, left work, went to your car and got mugged... would it be ready

 OUCH!! Good point. You definitely wouldn't want that thing going off in your pants pocket.

Very nice Jook. :) Plenty nasty with the nail darts.

Small bore, epoxy, miniscule pilot volume,...it's almost...well...predictable that Jack would be the first to reply.

Moth to a flame so to speak.
