Is this safe while using butane based aerosol?

I made a hybrid for the hell of it out of a water bottle, so yeah that is safer than what I did. Nearly lost my hearing....
Well... No. That is rough as guts, and not really safe at all. Soda bottles are even better than what you're using, as they are designed for pressurized, carbonated drinks. The bottle you're using isn't.
On the other hand, it's a very small cannon. It isn't very energetic and thus any failure will be quite mild. However, I will STRONGLY suggest you wear a pair of safety specs when you're firing it, if you choose to keep using it. If it fails you might get a nasty burn, but you arn't going to lose a finger. However, any little fleck of plastic that gets thrown out could lodge in your eye if it fails. Better to take a precaution and avoid a lifelong injury.
Even better, scrap it and build something stronger.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

I fired it.... Shot metal bbs threw cardboard into my wall and the gun got very hot. It has thin plastic and 1/20 times the sparker actually sparks. I scrapped it quick. Have any suggestions to a nice mini-combustion/hybrid spudgun?Insomniac wrote:Well... No. That is rough as guts, and not really safe at all. Check out the HyGaC20, it's simple enough.

I was being facetious.
Go ahead and play with your pill bottl combustions; soon they will bore you to death.
(that was a figure of speech; you won't actually die)

Buy some small PVC fittings. Make a neat little spudgun with a pistol-grip. Build it just like the bigger ones, but scale everything down. Extra points for using pressure rated fittings. They're safer (though not strictly neccessary in tiny cannons), but they also look much nicer IMHO.

Mine was a little shampoo bottle,
The wall was quite thin, and you could actually feel the body expand as it combusted especially when i was shooting with burst disks.
Solution,
Fibreglass and westsystem epoxy wrap
It's a fun little plinker, especially with a 1m 10mm I.D aluminium barrel attached, shooting 3/8" steel balls.
Playing with various low-pressure burst disk is fun and effieciant also.
But, i agree with Insomniac.
Just buy some PVC fittings and make a neat little combustion cannon.
I just made mine for the heck of it, and was playing with some epoxy while at it
