will fuel injectors work?

as sagacious suggested in another tread, will fuel injectors work to deliver gasoline, or maybe anyother liquid propelent, such as denatured alcohol.

I was going to in the near future (psh...might get around to it in like 5-6months) replace my throttle body in my truck, its straight outta 88' and the fuel injectors are as primitve as can be, it mixes the gas with air poorly, compared to modern injectors. So when i get around to doing that I will have 2 fuel injectors on hand.

If you can get the proper presure to make the injector mist proper, a very short injection may work. I drive a 88 Chevy van with that very throttle body your speaking of. I think the fuel presure is 12 to 15 psi. I have a Chilton manual for it and can look up the info and edit this reply with the rite info.
P.S.- If your getting a poor injection in your ride rite now, get some Gum Out injector cleaner, go to the gas station dump it in and then fill your tank (if you can afford it these days), that should straighten it out, it helped mine out pretty good.
If it doesn't your's will need machine cleaned, i used to do this at a All Tune and Lube. If the machine don't do it, you will need the throttle body rebuilt, costly if you can't do it yourself.

was thinking shouldnt be too hard to wire up a battery, fuse, and switch and bore out a barrel to fit one fuel injector, or maybe both of them, but to get the right mixture will be a challenge.

no jrrdw they work fine because i had to replace them a few months back, they got clogged and fuel injector cleaners didnt work. and yes fuel injector cleaners work really good, i notcied it was idling rough and poured a bottle in and now it smooth as a babys butt. the throttle body itself is problem, it works and all, but an moden one will give you better mixture thus giving better mpg, and will squeeze a little hp outta your block.

yeah 12-15 psi, but that can be changed with a quick switch of the fuel pump, all new chevys i think starting around like 94' or whenever the vortec was introduced, used beefed fuel pumps that run 58-64psi, which is crazy.

even i dont use all 15psi, thats why there is a return line, it just kinda recycles the gas that was not needed. What i will have to do is to buy a new fuel pump and run it straight off a battery, which makes me wonder what will happen, because the ECU controls the amount of fuel used...hmm

Well maby you can put a ball valve in your fuel line, that will allow proper static presure while restricting fuel flow. Use a smaller fuel line half way up to restrict the amount of flow, kinda like a in line fuse, big wire then a smaller wire in the middle?? Just thoughts off the top of my head.

I am betting that fuel injection will work though you'd need a regulator to have pressure in a fuel rail like in a car. and a fuel pump too. thats what im trying anyways, since i have a bunch of old car parts, and i already use an ignition coil.

Theoretically, what about a little jar (made of glass or ABS) mostly full of gas, with an air pocket at the top and a pressure gauge. Simply pressurize the air pocket to the desired pressure. At the bottom of the jar would be a tube that would run to the fuel injector. This should provide reasonably constant pressure. You could do a propane-style brass pipe fuel meter if you want to be exact about the amount of fuel you inject for each shot.

Remember that gasoline will errode PVC pipe, so use ABS for this project.
