call me dumb but can someone explain what a mortar gun is that i see alot people talking about on here and what is it used for?

you don't know what a mortar is?
Its a weapon used to lob projectiles instead of firing in a relatively flat trajectory like a normal Artillery piece (or a normal spuydgun.)
