I am a newer member to this forum, and have just recently entered the wonderful world of potato cannons. I have succesfully built and launched a combustion potato cannon by following the instructions to Backyard Ballistics by William Gurstelle, and found the experience really fun.
However, while building a Pneumatic (air powerd) spudgun, I would like to get as many designs as possible before building one, so I can decide which is the best to build, so I just won't have to follow Mr. Gurstelle's version of a Pneumatic potato cannon. So, could you guys send me some designs for air-powered potato cannons/spud guns? I would really appreciate it.

well i seen that one in backyard ballistics the T one? not the coolest looking. when i built mine i was going to go by a plan but i thought of my own design. you can just go to home depot and just piece it together in the store. thats what i did. but heres one thats good. i was going to use it but i turned the air chamber the long way and made it 3'' chamber. just think of how you want to shoot it (off the shoulder or hip on the ground) and think of a design. or there are a ton of pictures of guns on this site just look at them and/or modify it. its not hard to put it together in the store it just takes long. when i was in there one of the workers came up to me and said what are you doing making a pipe bomb? 
i said no just a potato cannon. he asked a few questions and walked away. but ya its fun to have a totally custom gun. heres mine

Now I haven't read Backyard Ballistics cove to cover, but I have looked at some of the ideas. The ideas are alright, but I have heard from plenty of people that the book is pretty much worthless. It's good for a starting point, but the best part of spudding is the room for your own design and ideas. Granted there is a lot of "borrowing" of ideas from this and other spudding sites. But just the mere fact that you can design your own working spudgun is so much fun. Just to sit down with a piece of paper and draw out plans or piece together a couple scraps of PVC is great. Asking for help is ok, but remember Be creative; Branch out and use your imagination. Most people here won't like it when people ask for plans and "step-bysteps" Good luck though. This is the best hobby around!
I agree with lucas on this one... it just seems kindof wrong to me to ask for plans and that kinda stuff... the great part about cannons is that they are so much a reflection of you in a way and when you just slap something together that you put no effort into designing, it kinda takes the fun out of it...half the fun of potato cannons is building 'em
