You can't even see what happened in the video... It looked like the valve was closed.

Did someone say "son of a biscuit licker", because I almost fell off my chair laughing when I heard that.

Its this misconception that "gas" is dangerous and lethal, and names like "propane" and "mapp gas" sound so impending and deathly; whereas you think of air as life-giving, good and harmless; even though air is in fact a gas too  And pressurized air is more powerful/ potentially more dangerous
I figure that propane is explosive where as air isn't.
That's what my parent's think about combustion cannons, they don't like the idea of igniting something.

Speaking of propane, it can detonate, it is just difficult to get it to do so. My parents are always kind of wary about my launchers (especially the steam powered ones), but I guess they trust that I know what I'm doing.

I exceed the bandwidth limit almost every month on my DSL (but that's what you get when you buy the crappy low speed service with a 1GB/month bandwidth limit).

I had two barrel-sealer pneumatics "explode" on me. One time it was pretty gentle, it just fell apart in my hands. The other one gave me a pretty good thump to the chest and left a nice rasberry burn.

In both cases, I had a female threaded coupler at the rear of the piston cylinder for access to the piston. The female couplers broke right in half. The 1" scch40 one broke because I had a poor bumper and I was shooting in the cold (~40 F). The other one (1.25" piece) was not cold. The piston was just really heavy and I forgot to put the bumper in during a test and was too lazy to take the gun appart and put it in.

Your right the valve was closed in the clip. I thought it showed the damage. That was my daughter saying that. On my last post you can see the damage.

About two days ago, I was making a spark strip like this to upgrade my recent combustion. While cutting the pipe to shape, my Dremel battery died. Being impatient, I decided to grab my hacksaw and finish the cut.

I didn't feel like putting the pipe in my vice (too lazy) and didn't feel like wearing shoes (too country). I braced the pipe in between my feet and began cutting. The hacksaw slipped and took a chunk of meat out of my left foot.

Fellas, this hurt like hell so take it from me; don't get lazy when building these things because accidents WILL happen.

I was paid to build a small cannon (two 1.5 liter soda bottles, modded 3/4" sprinkler valve, 3/4" barrel 3 ft long) for my bosses pneumatic cannon camp for kids, and after the prototype was done, the rest of the employees and i would shoot stuff, bolts, electonic bits, stuff like that.

So one day we decided to use popcorn kernels, and we poured about 50 in the barrel, wadded it, and fired at a box 10 feet away. The box was left with a rather large hole (a tell-tell sign of the power), but me being smart said lets shoot it at me. So we poured in about 100 kernels in, pumped to 125 psi, and my friend shot it at my back, and I experienced one of the worst pains in my life and almost collapsed to my nees. When they looked at my back it was covered with about 100 red dots in a 1 foot diam pattern, and the next day it had turned into a giant bruise which covered pretty much my entire back. Needless to say the cannon was deemed to be too dangerous so i had to build a less powerful one for the camp.

By any chance were you drunk? jk. Me and my buddies shot at each other with my small combustion the other night using a taped up paper towel. It hurt (like a paintball hit) but I'm sure your's was worse than this. (BTW, we were slightly intoxicated)

Me and my mate Mr.russ, made a little combustion using a 2l cordial bottle, and attached a marble barrel, but previously we had a table tennis ball barrel and it worked fine, so we changed it to a marble barrel, sprayed in some deodorant, i hit the trigger and it went KABOOM shot the marble, the chamber exploded, and knocked me off my feet almost, lucky i was holding it next to my thigh (i was holding it there for safety reasons *wouldn't hurt as much as the gut or something like that, should just blow past me, or in this case into my high*) We caught it on camera to! Will give a link asap.

EDIT: Heres the vid-

Also a cop lives like 5 doors away, but i don't really care, his wife and daughter come speeding down the road at like 80km/h when the limit is like 50km/h, and i don't think he was home that afternoon luckily, but i'm always careful when i fire because i don't want to get caught :P

^^hahaha, "oh my leg...it fucking blew up....keep it rolling..." man that made my night, thanks.

I wasn't drunk, but all the fumes from soldering for the past 4 days may have "clouded" my judgement. And I've been shot from 5 feet away with a paintball gun at 400fps, and this hurt about twice as much as that.

Here's an little incident I had with my 3/4" pneumatic firing a saboted 8mm steel ball bearing. This was the target, a section of steel plate from a washing machine:

The central hole is a shot that had penetrated, but the shot in question hit the edge on the right. I was foolish enough to be testing it indoors, the shot ricocheted off and I never found it. A few days later, I realised why:

Those are entry and exit holes in my 1/4" thick glass in my bedroom window. The fact that there's such a neat hole illustrates the velocity with which the ball bearing was travelling, were it going slow the glass would have shattered. That could easily have been my head, it was quite a sobering experience.
