I know that there has to be a fill valve. I'm planning on making a piston hybrid.

Already gathering some materials :)

don't really know yet. Depends on the O-rings and drill bits I can find in school :D

as it looks now, 25 mm piston and chamber, I have to find a barrel source yet.
If I can find the right piping, it will be scaled up for more power

If I ever made a hybrid it would probably be a 1" bore max. That way the valve wouldn't have to be huge, and it wouldn't be as loud or huge or expensive.

I'm thinking in the direction of a 1" bore shotgun. I think that design fits the accuracy and the power.

No need for a complete sniper rifle setup on a smoothbore, altough it looks cool.

My piston's O-rings now seal 100%, Once I get my ignition worked out I will have a fully functional piston hybrid. Here's a nifty little part I decided to add (1079K13)

Never seen those little window things before, they are neat! That is definitely going to be cool. Looking forward to seeing it up and running! I'm sure the ignition would look awesome through that window... do you have a high speed camera? Also which one did you get, a high pressure glass?

Cool, but did you check the specs.. They are for tanks and resivours. They are not meant for hybrid pressures. Check this item..
BSPP male sights have a max. temp. of 194° F. Not rated for pressure.

NPT male sights have a max. pressure of 4 psi at 70° F. Temp. range is –20° to +210° F.
Nevermind.. I just found the one you mentioned. 1500 PSI..

Success! A first fully functional shot from my piston hybrid! It still has a small leak which makes fueling inaccurate, but that can be worked out tomorrow. The shot was successfully ignited using 1psi of propane and 24psi of propane. The piston was held shut with 45psi and had a 50psi pop-off valve.

Its a finished project, it just needs some aesthetic tweaks to show case. I can "leak" a couple rough photos if anyone's really eager...
