Well, I'm going to try the exploding 12g bulb, but if that doesn't turn out well, I have some backups that use hydraulic shock.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

How well do 12g Co2 bulbs fit in 22mm copper pipe?
I'd try it, but that means I need to dig out my old stash of them.

I might see how many full 12g I can put in a 3" barrel and see how that works out.

I don't know that would be particularly advisable. If you can get one up to a reasonable speed and hit it against a hard surface well enough, I think that should be manageable, but I'd still want a large target, and to be at least 10 metres away from the impact point, hopefully twice that.

A dozen or more of the things flying at random at presumably a lower speed (thus more likely to ricochet), spinning off in different directions and flinging proportionally more debris sounds exceptionally dangerous.
I'm not trying to say that because I'm trying to stop you from making a video I think would beat me, I'm saying it because I honestly believe it is a very risky prospect - one is going to be enough trouble, more than that is asking for a trip to the hospital.

@Maxus: There is a gap, but nothing a few turns of electrical tape around each end wouldn't fix easily.

Nice video, the sound is great......

mtronic it's really impressive

yea i saw that video yesterday, i was like wow he should really enter that in the comp. anyway nice vid, i like the reverse sounds lol

mtronic, that video would have been soooo much cooler if the appliance rolled backwards and fell into that pond. Oh, and then it blew up.

But seriously, good video. I like how even frozen water will act like regular water under those high stresses

thanks for all the feed back guys, honestly I thought ppl wouldn't think much of it. This comp is pumping out some sweet vids :D My next mission is to crank the shutter speed right up on my cam to catch the projectiles frame by frame 8)

Markfh11q: that "pond" is a dam and its about 20meters from where the stereo was, although if you watch the 2nd vid youll see that the speaker magnet ended up down there

Rag: looking forward to more vids mate, can I suggest melon headshots? Even with my villian at 120 psi with a marble opens a melon up nicely. At 300+psi it will most likely smash it to pieces  http://youtube.com/watch?v=CMcYv4Zk5wM

First post has been updated with a new prize.

mtronic and myself have each donated $5 to the prize pool.

If you have a PayPal account and want to donate to the prize pool then PM me and let me know. Anybody who donates will be sending the money directly once the winners determine where it will be going. I will coordinate the prize distribution through PM once the contest is finalized. I will post an overview of what prizes went where once everything is done so that everybody knows there was no funny business going on with the prizes.

If the cash prize is large enough probably >$30 then the donations will be divided into a separate smaller option in the prize pool. So that at least the top 3 have a shot at one of the prizes.

When is it being judged, or is it all happening as we speak?

Judging will happen in a poll, so everyone gets a say. If there are a lot of entries there will be then a list of the top 6 will be made by me and a few other respected members who I have yet to choose. Then only the top 6 will be in the poll. This will all happen after the deadline. Hopefully it will all be complete around a week after the deadline (January 31)

For some reason, I read the deadline as 31st December :S, so I told my mate that the competition has closed, I'll have to tell him that it hasn't.

I did plan it out, the target is 50'+ away from the cannon, and I fire it remotely so I can be behind my concrete wall so that nothing would hit me. The danger level is higher on that so I did make a target the can "hold" the flying 12g's. Its a 1/2" ply front and the sides are concrete blocks and this way it will blow thought the 1/2" and then hopefully stay in side of the box.

I thought the new way of thinking was outside the box? Wow? If all goes as planned, i'll have my video shot uploaded by next week end. It will be Photobucket, Youtube and I don't get along when it comes to uploading video's. Makes me mad as hell, I try and try, it just waste my time!

EDIT: Man i'm getten pissed! I'm useing WMM, I can only catch the ball in flight in one frame, about 3 to 5 yards out of the barrel. The next frame shows a little puff of dirt just behind and below the target. I would like to get the entire flight to the target, or just as it hits. I think i'll try filming some more shots. Hopefully 30 frames per second will be enough to get the video clip I want.

If this turns out to be a double post, I tryed to delete the above ^!!!

This is my shot. Nothing spectacular, keep your eye on the bottom right corner of the cushion. You can't see the ball, (I can't you mite be able to) but the cushion moves.

Enjoy!

The Basterd!

Like I said, nothing spectacular.
