Personnally, I would say try to go with a smaller hybrid at first, and then work your self up to a bigger one. And trust me, with a smaller hybrid you'll get out more and use it because it will be a lot less work to set up.

mabe i can find a barrel for bowling balls and i think i wrote that i isn`t done with my smaller hybrid i need a 3/8 steel nipple witch is a big pain to get (think how big of a pain in the ass it was to get 2" steel pipe!) but i have not even thinked about the chamber bursting its just about the strongest thing you can get for the use of a hybrid.

and i got a gravel pit 40 yards from my house so backstop = not a problem. if i shoot bowling balls at lets say 400fps i wont get hit by a ricochet. but a long time ago i got my local pipeshop to get 3" threaded steel pipe on 8feet thats be testing barrel.

if i get parts for a bowling ball hybrid i would probably risk get hit by the cannon and not the ball since it would digg itself in the ground on firing. (monster recoil)

but on topic again do you know where to get that bottle?

it isn't too hard to make the problem is that it takes a hell of a lot money. think just a lets say 7" union $$$ and the recoil would shove the barrel into the chamber probably.

but don't expect something too soon i will make it just mutch later on! like DYI said it is just a big mini hybrid

Bowling balls at 400fps...

I shot a 1200 gram steel/ice projectile from my burst disk gun @385fps, and the recoil was sufficient to rip a stand made from 4x4s to shreds.

For the kind of power you're looking at (roughly 25 000ft/lbs), you will likely need to include wheels so that the whole thing can roll back on firing, or at least shock absorbers with rather long travel. A fixed stand would only destroy itself over time.

As far as cost goes: most parts will need to be obtained on the cheap. A 4" union (the largest size available) will set you back at least $150 new.
If you want porting larger than 4", you'll either have to use a flange, or make your own disk holder.

Does anyone know the diameter of a bowling ball? Because EVBEC says that with a 10' x 6" barrel, he could easily get 10 pounds over 400 fps with a 4x mix.

yeah thats pretty sweet 8) 25 000ft/ibs i think i stick with the 3" at first later on i mabe get something bigger a 3" potectile from a hybrid is something nobody has done (?) and should be fun to just got lying around in the garage to scare of noobs

it should be a sick thing to see a bowling ball smash trough an old car if i get one! an if the cannon will be born sometime i will shoot it just like 10 times on year basis. it isn`t easy to juggel around with something that large.

but i will try to shoot a car if the cannon gets together sometime and you would be glad to look att the boom and the aftermath on video (atleast i would so)


edit: would it be okay to use exhaust pipe as barrel?
