ouch.... looking down the barrel is defienatelly the worst thing you can do with any gun.... if he shot himself with a marble/ball bearing/AA battery/steel bolt he couldn't tell us that story....

BTW I am for sticking it but without all the responses... idealy there should be one thread infroming about safety + the most horible pictures that members have sent

That sucks horribly. The internet has desensitized me to many things, but eye related trauma still makes me wince.

Considering that your eye will be permanently dilated at 4-6 MM does that mean that you will have to wear sunglasses with a darker lens on that eye in bright situations?

The Doctors say it is a possibility that it may fix itself, to become normal dialation, but it is highly unlikley. And yes they said that for a few months, The light will bother that eye, but after time I may get used to it. But they aren't even sure of that yet, the eye needs more itme to heal and clear up, then they will be able to tell those type of things that will permanetly effect me.

i have a lense that makes the eye 100% white. it glows in the dark so i use to turn the lights of in a public toilet and wait for people to see glowing eyes in a corner

Ouch, I tore my retina in fourth grade with a yoyo-ball, that hurt like crazy, I can understand how that would hurt.

Why?

Because the more graphically it's explained and demonstrated why, the more likely spudders will remember why not to do things like look down a barrel on a spudgun when things like misfires happen.

I can't even bring myself to look down my spudguns barrel when I know its not charged because if I ever do that at the wrong time with my cannon I'm fairly sure I won't be in any state to tell you later.

This time it's one of our own members, it can't get any closer than that without being one of your own IRL friends or yourself.

Frog boy is already a legend on this forum and he had the misfortune of going completely blind in a similar incident. It's sad to see the same mistakes repeated.

-When reading about the whole surgery thing I tought, damn this is serious, he had surgery!
-When scrolling down and seeing that picture of you I tought nothing anymore and my heart stopped for a second...

DAMN, that's really bad! (And stupid) Unless your nerves were killed, that would have done a badass amount of pain!
I hope you recover quickly, and I also hope you will not quit spudding for ever. Ofcourse you're scared, but if you never look down any barrel again (I bet you won't) why not continue this great hobby?

Could you post or link the gun this happened with? And maybe add a picture of "after surgery" if possible. Is one "eye thingy" (black circle) now always larger then the other?

You just learned most of the guys over here that looking down the barrel is really "not a very wise thing to do" and you may even have saved someones life or eye with this lesson, since this is a lesson for all of us.

Psycix- Ya the eye is normal now other then the size of dialation aka "Black Part" which according to my doctors will always stay englarged.

The Gun has already been thrown away, but I can take a after surgery picture, I will add it up shortly.

You've got lucky there, obviously it's not ever going to be quite the same, but it could have been a lot worse. If you feel like doing it again, wear goggles.

There's a good argument for making cannons long enough so that you can't reach the trigger and look down the muzzle at the same time, so that you can't manage it even if you're not thinking perfectly straight.
