Not really "luck", more eBay ;)

Seems to work pretty well, doesn't leak and clicks open smoothly. The problem is that the porting is quite tiny, so good as a pilot valve for a small piston (slightly better than a schrader) but not as a direct acting valve.

Started in on my first toolies valve today, it's going great, but I need a piston "support" to keep me sealing face centered. Anyone got any good ideas that give me the highest flow?

Some may recall I tried to buy some pipe for a hybrid tennis ball barrel a few weeks ago? The pipe arrived but was the wrong diameter so I sent it back. I got charged with the return postage and gave the guy bad feedback. He then gave me bad feedback and blamed me for making him cut a 6m length in to a 1m length and 5m length

I complained and the auction site removed his bad feedback on my account but left my bad feedback on his account :D

All is well and good though as I found another trader who sold the correct diameter pipe at a cheaper price (NZD $7.50/m compared to $33.50/m)! Since 1.5m is the maximum length allowed for regular post, I paid for two meters and hopefully the 1.5m barrel will arrive in the next few days.

Even though I spent $15 on the new pipe and lost $10 on return postage from the first auction, I still had money spare from the first auction refund and bought everything here for $15:

So, in the end I get: 0.5m more barrel; three QEVs, another bloody 140psi pressure gauge; and another bloody low-pressure regulator, all for what I would've spent in the first auction!

Confused? :)

Friend of me took this from his work;

It's a BBC thyristor. (cs300-12go34)
I can't find much information on this type, maybe you guys can find something more

I hope to use this in a cap bank, already have a load of caps :)

I believe this is the same device with different gate and secondary cathode terminals.

This on has wire leads.

Decent part. It's a little heavier than mine. I have some 300A 600 V units. The current rise time is a little slow for coin crushers.

yes, it's nice to have. I like it more than a mechanical switch.

I want to use this one for a cap bank to power an ETG, but first I need to go trough a whole lot of documentation :D

You may recognise the 1.5m long pipe as that used in fire sprinkler systems. It weighs around 10kg (based on calculations) and makes the cannon impossible to be handheld. I'm hoping to get a supersonic chrony reading with a tennis ball and if I do, I'll probably cut 40cm off so It can be handheld. I don't think that 40cm will reduce the weight that much, I think the problem lies with that extra weight being so far away from where I hold it.

Half of the barrel is spray painted with a silver zinc coat because that half of the pipe had a decent amount of rust. Took two hours or so to sand down but I largely ignored the pitting because it was fairly extensive although not too deep. Anyway, couldn't be bothered removing the paint from the other half and I think the red and silver go together better than just silver.

ITWOS !, 14mm "rifle", bolt action with small magazine. Preloaded high pressure cartridges with toolies pistonvalve, actuated by hammervalve, hit by guns firing pin.
..And yes.. high pressure hybrid cartridges will be used too. Ignition works by insulated firing pin (cartridge gets - and insulated firing pin is the +) . Same firing pin and gun can be used for pneumatic and hybrid catridges.

All i have now is the barrel.
Its grade E 470, Carbon – Manganese –
Vanadium micro - alloyed steel.. tensile strength range of
600 – 750 MPa.

Outside diameter of the barrel is now 30mm and inside little under 14mm. (will be 14mm after barrel is finished and polished inside).
It has very thick walls now, but I will lathe the outside surface to clean it and finished OD will be about 25mm.

All done with big manual lathe and Haas cnc mill, this will be awesome ! :D

This will look something like a 50cal siper rifle. This will be smoothbore, and use sabots.

Hmmm.. so thats what im building now. :D

I hope it will be actually finished some day. If you have good ideas that i need to consider while designing this, please tell now :) But I not a newbie, so dont tell me about basic things. I have been spudding 8 years, and build 100 spudguns, but i just dont post very much as you can see from my "joined:2005, Posts:37"

If i have the time ill draw the parts with solidworks, if not that, then I can post some google sketchup pics.

next week i start to machine the barrel and muzzle brake. cartridges need some more designing and Ill post designs of them in the near future.. I might need help with the hybrid ones, so Ill probably send you some PM about them when I have the time :D

...and before anyone blames my fuel mixture for the black cloud blasted out of the muzzle, it's actually a dark coloured dust that was in the pipe when I first received it.

hehe nice one!

Find yourself a 45 gallon drum or a stack of tyres as a blast absorbant.
