The device described in World War II patent[15] works as follows: The shell contains a micro-transmitter which uses the shell body as an antenna and emits a continuous wave of roughly 180–220 MHz. As the shell approaches a reflecting object, an interference pattern is created. This pattern changes with shrinking distance: every half wavelength in distance (a half wavelength at this frequency is about 0.7 meters), the transmitter is in or out of resonance. This causes a small oscillation of the radiated power and consequently the oscillator supply current of about 200–800 Hz, the Doppler frequency. This signal is sent through a band pass filter, amplified, and triggers the detonation when it exceeds a given amplitude.
Is it feasible to reproduce this circuit ?
Like this? There are lot of similar circuits. The major issue is to fit into something small enough for our small projectiles. Under 20mm diameter.

Will do when I get home.
In the meantime, I'm going for the keyfinder approach as a "Russian" approach hehe, something like
this, I'll make four projectiles, MrC is bound to find at least one
Hmmm, this is pretty sinister:
Ingrish FTW

If you have some free kilometres to shoot over we could talk

I can actually shoot on a large agricultural fields that exceeds the km ...
But try to find a 10cm long missile seems impossible to me ...

If it was easy, this thread would not have gone on for so long - but with the right design I don't think it's impossible
Do you have the possibility of fitting a larger diameter (for example 40mm) barrel to ThorJack?

On Thorjack we can put a larger caliber barrel and a chamber 0.8L max !
Mix40 of course !

Excellent
thought I think 40x would probably be excessive, 15-25x is more than enough for test purposes, unless you want to travel to Italy to recover your projectiles
If you're interested we can try for some long range shots too. A 30-35mm barrel would be perfect.

Ohh!
Are the fields covered in a short grass? Sounds like you have an ideal range that's much closer to JSR than I. An 800ml chamber should be sufficient also.

Much like a long range projectile, that went completely over my head :s

France is certainly easier to post to than NZ, certainly.

I get the reference, but are you just implying that any projectiles fired will find themselves buried in equine targets
Well, there is a
precedent.
When launched from a height they strike the objective with terrific force, and will readily penetrate a soldier's helmet and skull. Indeed, when released at a height of 4,000 feet they have been known to pierce a mounted soldier's head, and pass vertically through his body and that of his horse also.
