Very nice video you got there MaxuS.
I think I will enter something but it will probably be nothing compared to the current entrys because all my powerful guns have a very small bore(1in and under)and my video camera isnt a video camera its a crappy digital camera.I will not win but Ill enter some thing today.

My camera's a crappy digital camera, it doesn't stop you from making at least semi-decent vids with some creativity.

My camera is a mini digital camera that I got on sale for 10 bucks but it does work .It has terrible resolution but atleast you can kinda see whats going on.

DYI, what was the construction of that door? I've got a steel-lined door with a solid wood interior sitting behind my shed right now. If I ever get my *removed* to work properly, that'll be the first thing I shoot.

MaxuS, when you say 1" of plywood, was it a single sheet of super-thick plywood, (that I have no idea where you would get), or just two layers of 1/2", or a layer of 3/4" and 1/4", or four layers of 1/4", or a layer of 1/2" and two layers of 1/4", or...

Maybe I'll get my friend to film my shots. He's got a better camera, (an actual video camera! ), and he also has the Vegas editor, (to which he has used with paintball videos to great effect).

If not, I'll just use my camera. Clide, what would the rules be on stroboscopic images? I ask because my friend has a very nice stroboscope in his shop that I could rig to be triggered by recoil and fire at x Hz. Could I have two exposures of the same shot? One would be a strobe image of the projectile exiting the barrel, (one still frame, from a camera on constant exposure), and then the video content of projectile impacting the target.

I don't have a real video camera either, that I can use for this. I have an older one which uses 30 minute tape, (it was a nice camera when my mom got it for Christmas in '98 ), but I have no way to digitize that. I have two digital cameras. Ones an older Fujifilm one, that can take pictures at 4.1 mP, and videos at 320x240. The other's the one I'm probably gonna use, because it can take pictures at up to 7 mP, (at constant exposure, as well, for those strobe images), and video at 640x480, at (I think) 15 fps.

We all know large bore launchers can smash up thicker material than smaller bore ones. All you need to do is make sure you're shooting something of the appropriate scale for your launcher.

I can crack a 1/2" pine plank in half with a 14.5mm projectile, if that is videoed at an appropriate distance and angle it can look just as good as a 2.5" cannon bashing up a 1" thick plank.

Record it from the same distance away as a shot for a large bore cannon and it'll look very much less impressive.

@Hotwired, indeed you can make things look larger or smaller as you please depending on the distance of the camera from whats going on.
But why would I have need to do that?

That was surprisingly badass MaxuS, great job. The sound is incredible, my digital camera pics up hardly any sound at all.

You don't. I was encouraging bigbob12345 as he wasn't sounding too keen on how his smaller bore launchers would look compared to larger bore launcher effects.

The way the picture is shot can make a small bore impact look more impressive and devastating than a large bore one

Yeah, I just love the sound of the wood splitting and how it almost sounds like a waterballoon exploding.
My old camera had appalling sound too, it wouldn't pick up silence without a fuzz noise, bloody thing.

I don't know quite how thick the door was, there weren't really any pieces left that were big enough to tell for sure. It was certainly sturdy before I demolished it though. I could kick it as hard as I was able to and it didn't give, so it wasn't hollow or thin.

This thread is going to be huge by the end of January.

I've got a door or two under my house, doubt my dad would let me shoot at it. Golfballs would probably bounce off at 150m/s, not sure. It is solid, not a hollow one.

I need to get my dam buster woking so I can go big caliber, I regret using a 3" tee as 3" pipe is incredibly rare here so I have no piston for it.

All these issues in finding something not too expensive but still tough enough to look good when being destroyed.

Well, talking about a good camera angle, I've found an old webcam I have on a super long lead that can be used as a "kamikaze" cam for close-up, if not great quality video.
