I don't think spudding is dead...i'm just starting and i have a few projects i will be doing.

My friends girl friend wants me to build her a small compact pistol to plink with, so i ordered a qev for hers and mine for i want to build one also.

I've just gotten into it and i'm in my 40's. I've fired real steel rifles and shotguns. My first airsoft rifle i spent many many hours tuning it, getting the hop perfect, no vibration, etc...but being able to build something from scratch and with my own hands is so much more appealing.

Seeing what members have built here gives endless inspiration..just a shame the pictures in some of their threads can't be seen, but thats a small thing.

For others they may not be in the right place at the right time to spend the time needed to build their own pneumatic.

But for me its just starting so its not dead by a long long way.

I'm turning 18 in a few days and I've only been spudding since last year, so younger generations are definitely coming in.

Definitely. Making a 7.62mm hole in this 12oz CO2 bottle with a Mosin was fun, but I still want to make something that uses 12 oz bottles as projectiles

For me, all this is beginning. I feel that I arrived a little late to the golden age of this great forum, and also infinite, but absolutely everything I have learned I have removed from here. This hobby science, is more alive than ever in these parts, and people are finding out what a potato thrower is.

I feel that I arrived a little late to the golden age of this great forum

If you had presented your hybrid prototypes 10 years ago, members would have been crowding around you on their knees for a chance to touch your garments sadly with the insidious encroachment of social media I don't see that golden age coming back, unless of course we have a Syria style civil war and pneumatic artillery becomes fashionable again...

Interesting to read this thread, obviously a lot of circumstances that are familiar to me considering how often I visit these days. I'm confined to an apartment in Stockholm so while I could make something, shooting it becomes another story. In the mean time I've honed my skills with Arduino's and related side projects, something that definitely would have been useful for spudding projects as well.

And Jack, before you ask, no I still haven't shot MiniBoy

These are similar to how I am. A small house in a quiet and residential residential area, and with a well adjusted budget to spend on this hobby ... In the end, there is nothing left to do as little as one can, and that particular circumstances allow, and enjoy it the best it can

Spudding may be less popular now but the spud guns (if you can even call them that anymore) have improved significantly. I unfortunately live in a city so going spudding is somewhat difficult without annoying people. That being said, I do it anyway.

Same here... I live in a somewhat quiet rural village, 5 years ago you could pretty much fire a howitzer in your backyard here and not a soul would notice/care. But now so much of that agricultural land has been sold off and turned into industrial parks, it's just saddening how quickly those big ugly concrete boxes can pop up from the ground.

And i'm pretty sure there are laws here prohibiting building on agricultural plots, so the whole damn thing really stinks. The only thing people in my country are better at than making complicated laws, is finding ways around them.

Also, i have at least one cannon i could finish after so many years of procrastinating. But to finish it, it comes down two two things: Either i man up and actually dish out some cash for a couple of expensive parts that would make finishing the cannon a breeze OR i spend a lot of time and experimenting on trying to find cheaper alternatives to buying those parts. One costs time, the other money, and i'm kinda strapped for both the last few years.
