Spent part of the retreat over the weekend launching some stuff. Got a couple damage picks of a tree and the remains of a projectile. Video to come later. One of the other members shot the video.

ITWOST, I upgraded my testing range from the living room to, well, more than I'll ever use!
Been awol from spudfiles saving for the new wheels, but I should make up over the summer as I can now step up from the peashooters of late. And create and film destruction with abandon!
Plus, I just found a 1000W inverter kicking around from a previous project. Anyone know offhand how much power an average fridge compressor draws?

There was a discussion about it while ago. Jmaccalip hooked up a power meter and got 200w, peaking at 300, so you should be fine.jmccalip wrote: I left the meter hooked up and was walking by and it said 300 watts. I could hear the compressor running, but then it started gradually stepping down until it settled at 200 watts. Then when I opened the door it spiked to 350 watts, and as soon as a closed it, it went back down to 200 watts.

FYI, in that thread I even talk about the 1KW inverter install in my car, and yes, the inverter in my car will run both a non frost free full size fridge and a small 5 cu ft freezer at the same time. Allow for the proper wire size and length restrictions on the 12 volt side. Anything less will create low voltage shutdown on attempts to start the compressor. I used welding cable.
Doh, the thread is even on first page still . Thanks for spoonfeeding.
When you say length restrictions, that means it wouldn't be a good idea to run 12v to the inverter at the back of the box? That would be a more convenient place to mount it than the cab or under the hood, though.
Wait, maybe I'll go search this time .

Instructions that came with my inverter said the lead length limit was 36 inches with the supplied wire size. Increasing the length starts to get into some very huge wire sizes to keep the allowable voltage drop within limits.daccel wrote:Doh, the thread is even on first page still . Thanks for spoonfeeding.

EDIT Rumble, dig, hunt, rattle, Aha, the owners manual.
Supplied wire 2.5 feet of #6. Cable length battery to inverter (One Way) Less than 5 feet with a minimum wire size of 2 AWG and a battery fuse of 150 Amps.
Based on US National Electrical Code NFPA 70. Article 551 and Teble 310-17, 90C Cables located outside of engine spaces.
Not to act too alarmed, but I haven't seen a post from Mr Crowley in over a fortnight. (And for that matter, he only posted four times in the two weeks before that.)
The site says he logged in a couple of days ago, but with the lack of posts, I've got to ask if anybody knows where he's got to?

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
A possibility, and a reasonably logical one. Still, I wouldn't expect him to drop off of the face of the forum completely because of exams.
On the note of quiet moderators, jrrdw seems to have gone that way too at the moment. A few posts from him, but a lot less than normal.

Exams wouldn't surprise me. The Aus corric is probably similar to NZ, and it's basically exam time here. Another year for me yet though

ITWOST:
Well there's these latino guys who are usually cool who hang out on the corner in front of my new place and drink a lot.
There's this one woman there who is cool and likes to drink beers.
That makes her cool in my book, (but my girl says she's a ho because she's the only woman there).
I could care less since like I said she's cool. 8)
I know she probably brings it on herself when they talk crap,
But a guy was talking Sh*T to her in front of her son who's like 12 years old.
So now I got a new assualt charge recently, worst thing is the homo cops put a protective order out and the guy lives in my same apartments.
Really sucks!!!
It was already bad having my spud stuff between two places, but now...
Anyway, I finished a 1.5" barrel multi-chamber 1" sprinkler valve thing, since half my brass BFB parts are in my new place I can't go for now.
Interesting thing, I connected my new PVC 1.5"er to a Fix-A-Flat can's clear hose,
Then with a small hose clamp and super glue, connected it to a brass fitting/nozzle which came with a blow gun.
It's the part that has a rubber cone tip, only I cut the rubber off and clamped/super glued the clear fix-a-flat hose on the brass where the rubber was before.
It threads into a propane torch nozzle/valve base, and into the propane can.
It was really cool to get fairly rapid multi-shots from an 1.5" inch launcher today.
I still love shooting spuds!!! sort of cheered me up after all this mess 8)
EDIT: my laptop is in my place I can't go to...so it will be a while until I can post any pics of new stuff, new posts etc.

And people talk about how dangerous spudding is. It's got nothing compared to women.THUNDERLORD wrote:ITWOST:

ITWOST, I got bored and modified the suppressor on my air rifle, adjusting it to choke the air flow at the muzzle and change the frequency of sound it works on.
The change seems pretty effective for a job done with three inches of barrel from a cheap airsoft gun, a centimetre of 6mm PVC rod and some electrical tape.
It does a better job than the original version anyway, deadening the crack of the rifle far more significantly, although still not fully. But with a volume of less than a cubic inch, it really punches above it's weight. I'll have to use some of the tricks on my cannon suppressors.

I was wondering about mr.c as well. It doesn't seem like him to just retire from the forum during exam time.
While I'm posting this I got a couple of questions about an air gun the crosman quest 1000.
I'm getting really bad groups with my rifle, like all over the page so much that sighting it in is almost impossible because of the spread.
Is this because the pellet is going to fast? I don't have a chrono but a youtube video has a review of the same gun and hes using the same ammo (crosman premiers 7.9 grains) the chrono readings were all about 975 fps.
And yes I have been holding the gun correctly not shooting off sandbags but off the open palm of my off hand and resting that on the sandbags. I am being very consistent in my holding.
It's not that I'm a bad marksman with my old pump gun I can hit a quarter size target at twenty yards.
