My bellpro 1/2" QEV got here today  it will be epic porting to a 5mm barrel. I also picked up a couple of lasers for sights. I've got most of the parts together, I just need to go buy 4 parts tomorrow and devise a breech loading system.

Any ideas for a bolt action system? I'm thinking the entire barrel will move..

Maybe a sleeve around the mag./barrel moves...depends on the ammo(?)
(What will it be???)

ITWOST: Been dreaming up a revolver of burst-disk chambers with a trigger activated pump-action (ball detent in barrel, sharp piece on back of ammo, pump action spring...giant NERF design).

Any way, I'm trying to finish an entry for the contest before sep. 1st...

Just too much going on though,
I doubt a .375 bore will win on a cannon forum/cannon page, although I'm not in it to win , just to compete...(to have a goal).

Been designing a series of "How-To's" I plan on posting, to sort of redeem myself in the SF's spud- community here (for all the jerky/ PUI /flaming stuff I've written before)....
Should be interesting.
What's up with you guy's in the ITWOST???
(This is a great thread IMO, Hope to hear more ITWOST's on whatever). 8)

ITWOST, I delayed my project further by putting others ahead of it. :D (automotive projects are expensive).

ITWOST: F*CK you all...I am going to look at harley chopper pics online, then go for a ride...then see my girl...
I'll probably just check back from time to time rather than lurking for long periods of time.

It's probably obvious I have stress, I got court in a few days and hopefully won't get locked up...although if I do it ain't nothing...just like a Gov't enforced retardation period of hibernation..until "FREEDOM" again.
BTW*(edIT2: for my stupidity removal/rules)*  8)

edit: Hope nobody got too offended by my humor...Cool link for what to do and what NOT to do... Gotta go for now...BTW, (my bike is cooler than anything there).

Bahh, don't remind me of disco's. My D1 with the 4.0 is a nightmare to buy parts for lol.

ITWOSTOWUGNDNTGOUSZZUGUWY, I got another 3/8" qev for my copper rifle, a 1 year old 21 gallon 155psi 6CFM@90psi compressor for $125 off craigslist - SCORE!! the poor fellow found out how much it was worth an hour before I came to pick it up - $400 and they still sell the exact same model at lowes! lol.

10 gallon will now have propper filling power for more rapid shooting lol, whenever that may occur with my stupidly busy summer schedule :(

Sounds like a nice find!!!

ITWOST: Been itwost'ing here too frequently, but just an update...:
Got free from my legal issues...WooOO!!!
No witnesses=Acquittal :D
That usually only happens in the movies I heard somewhere.
But apparently it does happen sometimes in real life.
Phew!!! I was getting like an ulcer and they kept me waiting all day.
Dang courts/legal crap give me the creeps.
Well I'm also not drinking so less ulcer still (for now atleast), and more time/money/ mind for spudding is coming. :) 8)

I'm back from the weekend campout. I had a blast. Due to the number of people present, I didn't get photos of much of the action. When the big baseball game took over the field, I took the opportunity to get some pictures of the location and our target tree.

We took the new launcher and left the ABS cannon home as we didn't have space to take both.

For some reason there were not many apples on the ground this year. Most were smaller than a golf ball and very hard to see fly. We launched water bottles most of the time. After dark we loaded up a bottle of water with a glow stick. It is very impressive after dark. :D Kids loved to retrieve the bottle. Part of the time we launched tennis balls. Some of the older kids were able to field them with a baseball glove.

The tennis balls fell about 50 feet short of the tree. Full water bottles made the best distance. The distance from my car to the tree is 547 feet.

All the testing was completed at 50-60 PSI pressure. Most shots were in this pressure range because that is what the 3 gallon compressor dropped to when filling the 3 gallon cannon. We let the compressor cycle while retrieving the bottle or tennis ball but didn't wait for the compressor to build back up while filling the cannon.

We launched from my car at the lonely tree and landed several bottles into the tree. When we got the range down pat, we unspooled some kite string and tried to launch a bottle over the tree, but in 3 tries, we only landed beside the tree. It is a really small target at distance. We quit when the start of the afternoon baseball game started.

We had more people at camp this year. There were more than 150 present. I didn't get pics of cooking breakfast.. Sorry. I did get a photo of the dinner chow line.

I'm already looking forward to next year.

Air cannon in the line of cars. This is the launch point. The little compressor ran almost non stop for 2 hours in the afternoon. The car and inverter handled the load just fine.

The target tree we launched bottles into. For scale, that's a white car in front of the tree.

Looks like fun Tech!!!
ITWOST: I got a beer buz and decided to test a blue painter tape burst-disc on a 1.5" barreled, PVC, sprinkler valved gun...filled with propane and @ about 90 degrees out today, it was too loud for the front yard where I was at (townhouses).

So (of course) I went out back and smashed some stuff using apple and banana ammo...

Tried out aluminum foil burst-discs also, but it seemed less "blammy" than the painter's tape.
Wanted to try a small bore burst-disc using my tyre filler and 12 gram co2 but I don't have any gauges above 200psi right now.

Been dreaming up a mini-hybrid design...but I've got to finish my pneumatic project first...got issues I don't care to disclose (yet) with my woman and stuff.
As well as work and computer problems that will probably keep me out of the upcoming contest. :(

BTW, excuses are like ... but I do have good ones for now. 8)

ITWOST: I was with my lady all day but kept daydreaming of spud stuff.

I recently saw One Of These on a hose connector...started thinking of the possibilities for a 20 oz. bottle on each.
(They have 4 small ball-valves)
But was disappointed to see it in Home Depot today,
because the ball valve is 1/4" or slightly larger...still maybe a cool component for other uses though. (premixed hybrid, high pressure stuff, etc.) (?).

Been dreaming up a co-axial pneumatic design involving a fire extinguisher body and valve, and a flat thick diaphram rather than piston.

Still haven't finished my main project though (which will get posted eventually). 8)

ITWOST:
Gonna go look for a screwdriver from my tool boxes or a bargain one in proper size from a hardware store.

I am thinking it will be excellent to create a piston from:
They are cheap, come in lots of diameters,

But also, chuck the metal shaft (drill in vise, drill press, lathe, mill, electric fan/ blender motor modified etc.),
And machine it to smoothness and proper diameter if necessary.
edit: (then cut it to length)

Screwdriver handles are strong plastic at decent prices usually... 8)

I wonder what's going on in the world of the contest???
My computer's been acting soo slow,( it's keeping me from a lot lately). :( 8)

That's frikkin' brilliant... I wish I had thought of that, I've got so many screwdrivers with broken/chipped points it ain't even funny, now I've got a source for smaller bore pistons...

I've considered that, but I went for HDPE for impact resistance, Larger sizes, and Weight. Lighter pistons are faster. Some screwdriver handles are fairly brittle. Select carefully.

ITWOST:
Had a slightly less than 7lb. arrival the other day, sent down straight from Heaven. She's perfect !

Thought about getting some beer on way home, but more than ever thought, "No way, I have my "priorities".
Although riding my Harley home on the 1 hour+ ride (which took 20 minutes on the way)...for some odd reason, This song (not the lyrics, just the tune) was stuck in my head riding in the peaceful rain.

...Yeah, I cried, a few tears rolled out seeing her...my lady thinks it's hillarious and told everyone...Took a knee in private and bowed my head afterwards too.
Well, I gotta go for now, although I'm certain spudding stuff will remain a different priority. 8)
